TGI Fridays Closes More Restaurants Amid Reports of Potential Bankruptcy
The latest TGI Fridays coupons and specials to save big!
TGI Fridays has closed another wave of restaurants nationwide, stoking rumors that the casual dining chain may be headed for bankruptcy.
After starting the year with 270 locations, TGI Fridays now has only 164 functioning restaurants in the US. This number has dropped by 51 in the past two weeks, making it the largest wave of closures since January, when 36 underperforming locations were closed.
While the company has not released a list of closures, local news outlets in states like California, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio are reporting the abrupt shutdown of TGI Fridays near them.
Recent reports suggest that these closures are paving the way for TGI Fridays to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few weeks.
This news comes after years of declining sales as inflation caused consumers to gravitate towards fast food and other more affordable options.
