This is a simple kit that really teaches a lot of important concepts with only a few pieces. Back in the 1980’s my parents owned a business that sold and rewound electric motors. This kit clearly demonstrates how electricity can use magnets to make motion (electric motor) or use motion to make electricity (generator). My kids love it so much they keep squirreling away the parts to play with, and it disappears. I highly recommend this kit, even over the other science kits that try to teach electrical circuits and other concepts.

Hours of educational fun! Did this over the summer with the kids and they loved it. They learned so much about magnets, and how magnets and electricity work together! Very good kit, lots of fun. Something the kids have gone back to.

This kit was a lot of fun to put together with several of my nephews and nieces. The instructions are very good and also informative. It produced enough current and voltage to drive a couple of LEDs I had laying around. It was pretty funny to see them wrap their heads around how mechanical energy of turning a crank coupled with magnetism could generate electricity. The larger scale descriptions in the accompanying book were quite good.
