“This past Saturday night, our church hosted a “Sweetheart Dinner” for Valentine’s Day. We got a babysitter (so rare) and went! We enjoyed a nice dinner with friends and other couples and then watched “Fireproof,” a movie produced by the authors that inspired this book. After the movie, the church passed out this book to every couple to take home.

They “dared” everyone in attendance to start The Love Dare book as a couple yesterday, which we did! It lasts 40 days. Each day we read a chapter together and it’s been awesome!!! Yesterday the dare/challenge was to not say anything negative at all to your spouse and today’s is to do one unexpected kind thing for your spouse. We are enjoying trying to “outdo” each other since we’re doing this together (vs some people who do the challenge on their own without their spouse knowing).

I can’t recommend this book enough, and I’m only on Day 2! I find so much already is applicable even beyond romantic relationships. For example yesterday’s dare was all about just the importance of love and the importance of being patient to display love. Today is about kindness and how to have love we need to display kindness. As I read the book, not only do I see how applicable it is to my marriage, but also the importance of instilling these principles in our three children as well. I want them to learn to love well and we can’t expect them to just naturally know how to do this. We must teach them through example. Loving this book so much!”
