DIY Cactus Rocks Garden
PrintSupplies Needed
- flat river rocks, varying sizes
- small flower pot or container
- potting soil or smaller rocks/gravel
- green craft paint
- paintbrushes or paint sponges
- any other paint markers, puffy paint, etc. you may want to use
- tissue paper for flowers (optional)
Directions
1
Go on a rock hunt! Take a little nature walk with your kids and collect some flat and oval-shaped river rocks to paint. Grab a variety of sizes that will fit your container or planter. Scrub any excess dirt off your rocks and set them aside to dry.
2
After your rocks are washed and dried, paint both sides green. Let dry.
3
Embellish your painted rocks by adding small cactus details.
4
Let your rocks completely dry.
5
Arrange them in small pot or container with potting soil or gravel. Glue any tissue paper flowers, if desired.
I love how my cactus rocks turned out! 🌵
My daughter and I had such a blast with this project! Painting is fun and kinda relaxing. Cacti have always been special to me since I live in the desert, and they seem to be cute and trendy everywhere lately!

My mom used this idea as a gift one year. She did a bunch of little rocks and “potted” them in a terracotta pot filled with pebbles. It was the cutest!!! You could even paint cute little faces on them (even frowns are cute with a “you prick”/grumpy catus theme! 🙂
