Create Marbled Pumpkins with Nail Polish—Easy DIY!
Grab colorful nail polish and pumpkins to create these easy and beautiful marbled pumpkins!
Want a fun and frugal way to paint pumpkins this year? 🎃
Check out these beautiful DIY nail polish-dipped pumpkins I just painted. I am not even kidding when I tell you this may be my favorite fall craft EVER. The result is stunning and the options are endless on desired colors.
These marbled pumpkins have an Anthropologie vibe once dried and styled in a bowl as decor! To make these, add a few drops of each nail polish color to a bowl of water, swirl it around, and dip the pumpkin. So easy!
Can you even believe these beautiful white ceramic pumpkins with gold stems are from Dollar Tree?! The nail polish is too. This makes a brilliant low-budget EASY craft that’s perfect for fall!
Feel free to use real pumpkins or faux plastic pumpkins instead. I tried with styrofoam pumpkins and it did not work.
DIY Nail Polish Marbled Pumpkins
PrintSupplies Needed
- nail polish of various colors
- bowl with water
- wood skewer
- pumpkins (real, plastic, or ceramic)
Directions
1
Fill a bowl or container with water. Just make sure it’s deep enough to dip the pumpkin.
2
Add 5-10 drops of nail polish of various colors to the water. You’ll see how it will float to the top. Use a wood skewer to swirl the colors around.
3
Dip the pumpkin in the water and when you pull it out the nail polish sticks to it! Let the pumpkin dry. Refresh the water for each pumpkin,
Tips for making nail polish-dipped marbled pumpkins:
- Use a bowl that may not mind tossing as the nail polish does seem to stain.
- Replace the water between each pumpkin for best results.
- I tried using shaving cream instead of water and it didn’t work. I thought it would be similar to this Easter egg craft, but didn’t quite work.
- If your pumpkins don’t have a gold stem it would be easy to apply gold paint to them as a last step! You could instead grab this 12-piece set of plastic white pumpkins from Amazon.com.
I’m sorry but these dipped pumpkins are insanely cute!
I feel like the whole process is so magical and fun. Grab a group of friends and have a special fall craft night to make some for yourself. It’s a great way to embellish pumpkins for fall!
Consider making some pretty Mod Podge and tissue paper pumpkins too.
Super Cute!! I’ll be trying this…if everyone doesn’t beat me to the pumpkins at Dollar Tree…😄
Thanks for sharing this great craft! 😀 🎃🎃

They are beautiful!
Thanks so much! 🎃❤️
Are your ceramic pumpkins embossed? All stores are out near me so I have to order in bulk🤦♀️ more than I need but still a cheaper gift then if I had to buy something for 15 distant to order if they weren’t the same thanks
Great question, barbara! I checked with Lina on this and she said that hers are also embossed, but the design is not noticeable once they are dipped! Hope this helps! 😊
Ordering in bulk- are your pumpkins embossed?
Oops after adding shipping and tax they won’t be cheaper than a $5 candle and you do not get to choose the color- size. Totally random 😞
Oh bummer! 😔 Hoping you might still spot them in-store soon! 🤞💗
Hi there, barbara! We also spotted these on Amazon if that might be a better option for you. We also added this link to the post if helpful! ❤️
How did you dry the pumpkins? Did they stick so what you set them on?
Hi KIM! We used a metal cooling rack to dry them. The pumpkins didn’t stick, but if you have any nail polish left on the cooling rack after, you can use a bit of nail polish remover to get that off. Hoping this is helpful! 💞
Don’t get Gel Polish!! When swirled it all sticks and clumps together! ☹️. I just looked at colors I wanted. The pink I got wasn’t Gel and it is still in the bowl partially swirled.
Oh no! Sorry the gel polish seemed to stick and clump for this DIY. Thanks for the heads up. 💕
No apology needed, Lina! They’re great! Thanks for sharing them.
Oh thanks for the sweet comment!
This was an easy
Thanks for the feedback, shoop! Glad this was an easy DIY for you! 🤗🎃
Using regular or gel polish
Hi Trish! We used the cheap gel polish from Dollar Tree! 🌳❤️
Can you use the marbling technique on any glass or ceramic?
It seems to work on ceramic or plastic. Lina tried this on styrofoam and it did not work. but we haven’t tried it using glass. Let us know how it works for you if you decide to give it a try! 💞
How long approximately does it take them to dry?
Hey Gina! About 10-15 minutes! 🙌
