- Consider using a laminator machine on our FREE printable so it will last longer outdoors.
- Some great snack suggestions: granola bars, Cheez-Its, trail mix, fruit snacks, energy bars, beef jerky, fresh fruit, and bottled water.
My thank you basket has been a success!
On a personal note, this basket has been on my porch for 2 holiday seasons and it’s really FUN to watch and hear on our outdoor Nest camera. The drivers have always been so appreciative and some of them yell out, “Thank You!” and a few have come back to leave a sweet thank you note! 😍

I’ve been putting treats and water bottles on my front step for several years now for UPS, FED EX, USPS and also Schwan’s. I put the basket out daily between Black Friday and Christmas Eve. My sign isn’t as pretty as yours, but my drivers were pretty shy about taking stuff, and in past years they have taken very little. So this year I amended my note to tell them to help themselves as often as they’d like. A lot more treats are being taken this year and I love it! I try to notice what they take the most so I can have things they enjoy. Beef jerky is by far and away the biggest hit with my drivers!!!
That’s so wonderful!
I am home for 99% of our home deliveries. If UPS and Fed Ex Knock, I tip them right then and there if they haven’t left before I get to the door. I appreciate them knocking cause I live in an apt building and it’s less stressful not having to wonder “what if” someone takes my packages. Our mail carrier will get they appreciation gesture from us at Xmas time. We’ve had a wonderful carrier for some time now.
UPS, FedEx, and USPS can not take tips or they risk being terminated. I know the UPS allows small gifts under $20 one time per year, but other than that it’s completely against their rules for employees.
I FINALLY printed your sign and put out drinks and snacks. THANK YOU for such an awesome act of kindness! I appreciate all of your hard work. Blessings to you all this holiday season!
Oh that’s so neat! Thanks for sharing, and for the sweet comment!
I remember seeing a post like this last year and I read through the comments and I was shocked at how mean people were. Saying why should they get a treat, they are just doing their job. As a wife of a UPSer it is so stressful and crazy hours and yes, we all signed up for this – but kindness matters. And it goes a long way. I am glad drivers get recognition, I wish they guys in the office did too. Thanks for all you kind words this year. We love our delivery people!
Wife of a UPSer here too. It’s such a hard job and yes they get paid, but those little pick me ups during the day helps them get through each day and the season.
Thanks Katie! I agree, this is so small, but could make someone’s day!
I would totally do this if they brought my packages to my house instead of leaving them on top my mailbox and everyone else’s! That’s a great idea!
Not sure if this has already been asked, but has anyone had animals get into the snacks they leave out? I’m not home during the day, so I want to be able to leave a basket out during the day, but I’m afraid critters may get into the snacks. We have a lot of groundhogs and possums in our area and I dont want them getting into it. I want to display the items in a basket where the delivery drivers can just grab and go because I feel like they may not bother if it’s all in a tub with a lid. Any thoughts??
Ya most people with critters are saying they use a little cooler or tub with lid. Sorry if that’s not helpful, but maybe others will have another idea.
For us, Critters come out at night. I place outside during the day and take it back in at 8pm.
Yes, I had this problem. The squirrels were stealing our snacks. They especially liked the ones with peanut butter! Anyway, I started buying snacks that come in cans or plastic cups like pringles and the mini cookies. It has solved our squirrel theft problem. They can’t get into those.
I had one Amazon delivery guy tell me he wanted to hug me but said he wasn’t going to because it was raining and he was soaking wet. Not sure I am going to go out and hug the delivery person (LOL) but I thought it was sweet. He was so excited to get a pack of chips and a granola bar. My husband even commented on how nice the sign was compared to my hand written one I used last year. He thought I made it but I had to fess up and give Hip2Save the credit.
Oh I love everything about this! How fun- thanks for sharing!
This is such an excellent idea, particularly in light of the coronavirus with folks staying home now. Maybe even provide a container of wipes or hand gel dispenser for the drivers as well.
Snacks were a great idea when this was originally posted in December, however, with the Coronavirus outbreak I would change the items offered a bit. Perhaps wipes, hand sanitizers, and bottled drinks…nothing they will be touching with their hands and then putting in their mouths. Keep in mind that washing their hands often is not an option for delivery drivers.
Well people tough stuff in the stores too. You just have to wipe off your packages. I am sure they have wipes in their truck.
This will be my project today. I’ve been meaning to do this for forever! Thanks!
I do this every year for the drivers and they absolutely LOVE it! I have also now started to include the local law enforcement as I live in a same town—- not only does this bring them in your neighborhood but they also appreciate being appreciated too!
Hi. 🙂 I love the idea of extending this to police but I can’t picture how this works. Please help me understand how your police enjoy these snacks. Are they walking by your house and see them from the sidewalk? Truly appreciate your response. Thanks! 🙂
I would like to hear more. Thanks!
Thx for updating the sign I have a post it note for On Trac delivery drivers too Those drivers bring the Ulta & Sephora deliveries!
THIS IS SO STINKING COOL! How thoughtful and rad! We need more posts like this with easy access to save and print. Thanks so much!!!
Oh good! Thanks for the feedback ❤️
I’m a UPS driver in Indiana and We All appreciate the snacks and water you all have left out!! It made me feel connected to y’all when I saw the hip 2 save sign too!! 😊
Oh yay!! Yes I love hearing that 🥰 Thanks Mara!
The baskets are a great idea. Also go to the street after dark and see if your address is visible. Too often people pain their houses and forget to put their numbers back up, or hang decorations over the address.
I am a whole Foods/Amazon delivery driver! Even though I don’t always take an offering, its greatly appreciated and does make us smile! Thanks for showing this mainstream!
Oh I’m so glad! Thanks for sharing!
I am an Amazon Flex driver and I LOVE the snacks and I always take a little something. It truly warms my heart. I would love to thank the person back and I didnt know how. I am thinking I should carry a little note pad and leave a note to show the customer how much I appreciate their act of kindness! 🙂
Oh how wonderful!! Yes that be nice. 👏
This site often posts deals for personalized thank you notes and such. I would keep some of those handy or you can even grab a pack of about 8 at dollar tree.
Does no one live in an area where people will just steal the whole basket? I love the idea, but I’ve had so many things stolen right off my front step that it’s pointless. If I catch them in person, I offer but it’s not quite the same
I was thinking the very same thing. You’d have to sit on your porch with a stun gun guarding the goods…

I added imperfect foods to my sign because they deliver to my house now!!
Oh good thinking – thanks Cathy!
I do this every year however, I include the recycle and sanitation workers. I leave a sign that says thank you all for your help throughout the year. They thank me often. I also leave cold gatorade on my recycle and garbage cans when it’s hot. Enjoy!!
Oh that’s a great idea! Thanks
I edited mine to say delivery drivers and vendors. We have lots of critters so since Covid I order small Purell hand sanitizers from Amazon. So far I’ve given away 540 bottles.
I do too! I hate it when I miss our trash people. They really are awesome. When I catch them we always run good and drinks out to them. I was just talking to my husband the other day about when to set this up this year!
We just tip at Christmas. No one works harder than the mailman. They are short staffed and many mothers had to quit to educate their children. Give cash tips or giftcards!
The rest make over $15 an hour.
This is a much easier job than a cashier or trashman.
The risk of Covid is from co workers, not delivering.
It’s not about how much money they make, and the postal carriers I know make way more money than the other delivery people. It’s about giving them a little token of appreciation. This time of year they all have a really hard job with the added volume and the fact that it’s getting dark earlier and it’s getting cold in some areas.
As a side note, USPS carriers are prohibited from accepting cash gifts and any gifts must be $20 or less in value. (We usually leave our mailman a Dunkin gift card.)
I so want to do this but I’m afraid the super tall dogs that roam around my neighborhood might just take those snacks instead.
I would work on getting rid of the super tall dogs 🐕 wandering your neighborhood. Doesn’t sound safe. Pets owners…. please take care of your pets responsibly. We have a lot of loose dogs in our town as well. It’s a problem.
We sat our goody box out yesterday. It’s seriously the highlight of my day watching them all on camera. I love to see them smiling!! It’s fun to see what everyone will choose. We do combos, chips, peanut butter crackers, slim Jims, cupcakes, twinkies, cookies, chocolate candy bars, and bottled waters. ❤❤❤
Oh that’s so awesome 👏 yep I love it too! Thanks Loretta for sharing ❤️
I’ve been doing this for some time now since I first saw this on H2S, but none of my delivery drivers ever take anything. Its so disappointing.
Maybe try and catch them and ask what snacks they would appreciate? I’ve noticed the slim Jim’s/jerky and Gatorade are the first to go from my box so I try and get more of those. Last year we had a guy who loved the chili Fritos so I always had those too.
Really!? Aw I’m sorry 😞
I live in the country and really don’t have anywhere to put a basket of things so I decided to print these and just cut the top off and made small baskets for each one individually. They were all very appreciative. Ibotta has a few sodas free after cash back too I added. I put jerky sticks, small hand sanitizers, granola bars, etc. I figured if there was stuff they didn’t want they could give it away. TY H2S got this!!!
Wow that’s so generous and neat to hear! Thanks for sharing <3
I try to keep an eye out for them in the summer and I’ll race out the door with a bottle of cold water or gatorade. They’ve been really surprised and happy to accept a cold drink on a hot day. 🙂
That’s so thoughtful!
How funny, I just put mine together today and my sign had been ruined in the rain so I was going to make a new one. This one is so much nicer! I put our food and drinks in a small cooler to protect them from the elements (we are in NH). I try to buy snacks and drink in bulk (from this site of course). I could use some gum too, come to think of it.

Oh good, thanks for sharing Jenna!
I found your idea last year and loved it so much we are doing it again this year. I love how you have added tips and your pictures look awesome! Thanks for your free printables, too!
Oh thank you so much! I’m glad you like them!
This is so sweet to do, they are so tired and busy, So thoughtful!!!
Thanks for sharing this cute printable! We tip our mailman every year but never figured out a way to thank our package deliverers since its not always the same person. This is a wonderful idea. Box was halfway done towards the evening I’m so happy it was well received!
Oh yay!!! That’s the BEST! I’m so glad <3 Thanks for sharing Cindy!
Thank you so much for creating this sign and giving me the idea to do this! I put out a basket of snacks and drinks yesterday. My husband commented on how nice the sign looked (which I put in a page protector so it wouldn’t get wet & also added OnTrac). We only had flavored sparkling water, so I went to Grocery Outlet today and found a variety of drinks for 50c each–no soda, but Izze juice, plus cold brew coffee & soy milk. They also had mini Kind bars 8/$1, plus boxes of candy canes for 50c. I didn’t spend very much, and it feels good giving back to the people who work so hard delivering our packages!
Aw that’s so great to hear! Thanks for sharing, and I agree they work so hard. 👏
Thank you so much for the idea! We put our drinks and snacks in a storage tote to prevent animals from getting in. I printed the signs on bright green paper and had them laminated at the UPS store. I used packing tape to secure one sign on top and one on the front. Everything has held up great considering I live in Buffalo.
Yay!!! That’s so awesome 👏 thanks for sharing Nic!
A storage tote will not stop them. Squirrels will chew it up and we have bears and have had a mailbox destroyed because there was a sample of crackers.
Aww that’s too bad , Lana. We’ve had squirrels chew on the edge of it but they were not able to get inside. It does help to use a heavy duty tote. Hardware stores such as Home Depot, Lowes, etc. carry them. A regular tote would not hold up well especially if you have a variety of animals.
I wanted to thank you so so much for these adorable printables and such great ideas for giving. It really is so much fun and I kick myself when I forget to leave the basket out!!!
They work so hard to deliver our “stuff” I started doing this last year ! I add drinks and snacks ! I wrote an thank you note but now add this will add “Instacart “ 😂. Thank you to all !!
Oh good thinking! There are so many now! lol
We have bears here and putting food out is asking for trouble. We had our mailbox torn apart because we had a sample of crackers come in the mail. Just be smart.
Wow! Proud we don’t have bears! But we do have ants so I put our snacks in ziplock bags. I don’t know much about what you can and can’t do with bears but I do know they have amazing sniffers! Would something like a ziplock keep them from smelling the snacks if you did that and put them in a cooler? Just wondering.
These signs are great and well appreciated. As a delivery driver (mailman) I really am thankful for them and the snacks too!
Oh yay that makes us super happy! Thanks Ron for all your hard work!
I have been doing this for almost a year straight now. I have a styrofoam cooler with a lid because I live in FL. I put a couple ice packs on one side each morning and lay the drinks on top of the ice packs. I put the snacks on the other side- Oreos seem the be the favorite around here. I used packing tape to put the sign directly onto the lid of my cooler and covered to entire sign to make it weather proof. After the first couple months of doing this I added another smaller sign asking to please knock or ring the doorbell. I get fresh produce delivered twice a month and it would just sit on my porch in the heat if I didn’t know it got delivered. With the sign I get a door bell about 85% of the time now:) My mail carrier was so excited about the cooler she tried to give me money to pay for her snacks. I politely declined and explained that would defeat the purpose of the cooler if she was paying for her own snack.
Wow you are dedicated! How awesome Susan🙌💕
I guess i live in the wrong place because not one of them will ring the doorbell or knock. They throw and go, had an expensive item stolen from my porch last week and it won’t be replaced by the company because Fed Ex isn’t responsible since the company didn’t ask for a signature.
I’ve done this for my mailman. I’ll use one of the kids small school lunchboxes that came with a backpack to put an ice pack in and 2 bottles of water. I do include different flavors of drop ins because out of 7 of us only 1 likes plain water. Then I’ll put a sweet junk food type snack, a piece of fruit, and either a bag of chips or peanut butter & crackers (in the south we refer to these as nabs. You have peanut butter nabs and cheese nabs. They are a staple because they are quick, easy, don’t melt, and will tie you over till you can get a real meal! 🤣) in a ziplock bag. I left a note the first time telling him that me & the kids wanted to leave him a happy but we weren’t sure if he liked plain water or what flavors he likes so we included a few of our favs. And we left snacks but we hoped he wasn’t diabetic so hopefully there is something he can eat if he is. Or if he’s on a diet, has to watch what he eats, etc. We hope there is something here that he likes and can have. We also told him if he didn’t have any diet restrictions and liked them all to please feel free to take it all and we really appreciate him delivering all of our mail in good and bad weather! But please stay safe! When we checked our mailbox that afternoon he had taken it all which made my kids super happy! He did leave the lunchbox. So don’t forget your regular mail carriers! They come to you almost everyday!
I had originally intended to remove my basket after the holidays. As we continued to have items delivered, we left the baskets out and just change the decoration for each season. We have one basket for drinks and snacks and one basket for safety items (tissues, hand sanitizer, wipes). One delivery guy rand the bell to tell us that they appreciate the snacks as they are working longer hours and cannot always get to a restaurant to grab a bite. My baskets have now become fixtures.
That is so nice of you Michelle! Thanks for doing that!
I just started this tradition this year, now that we own our own home. I’ve been privileged to be in the living room when they stop by and can hear how happy they are. It feels good to bless someone else!
Aww yay! I agree! Thanks Amy for sharing. Also congrats on the home 🙌💕
I did this last year! Now just need good deals on snacks! Thank you
Yay! Okay I’ll pass that along. Thanks for sharing!
Ditto on everything she said!!
Could you put together a list of some good deals on some goodies we can put out for the delivery drivers?
I found some blueberry breakfast biscuits with 9 packs in each package at the dollar tree… they taste just like the belvita ones but less expensive imo.
You can spot some of our latest grocery deals here! Enjoy!
Thank you so much .
Thank you for the printables! Thanks to your brilliant idea, I’ve had a basket of snacks and water for 2 years. Only within the last month have have animals started getting into the snacks. I’m switching out to a plastic box, just in time to switch to the holiday printable. Happy Holidays everyone!
You’re most welcome, LittleBird!! Happy Holidays!!🎄💝
I love these, I totally wish there was an option to print one to put inside of a gift box of treats to be dropped at the post office! 💝
I need one for the Walmart InHome drivers. They are at my house 3-4 times a week.
I’ll be sure to pass along your request to the team, Julie. 💞 In the meantime, you might be able to print one of the designs you enjoy above, and cut off the top portion that lists out the various delivery services, so that it applies to all delivery drivers instead. 🤗
I did this last year and not a one took anything I had out and I had some good stuff. 😂😂
Oh no! 😅 That was super thoughtful of you to try it out, Jill! ❤️
they should say most deserving
