I buy them all the time for my hubby ( his favorite) but I do not care for them personally. I can’t get past the smell .
This! I want to try them at a restaurant because I’m thinking they might be better than me making them at home. They have them at TGI Fridays but it’s $15! Too bad we don’t have any of the above restaurants in S. Fla.

Totally agree with Shey. Hubby liked them but the smell really made me ill. We stick with the non gmo Boca burgers!
OMG, yes! I work at a Carl’s Jr. While its wonderful that we FINALLY offer a vegetarian option like this, I can’t wait until we discontinue them because the smell is so awful. Like burnt peas.
I wish they offered a veggie burger for us vegetarians who never ate meat to begin with! We are NOT looking for meat alternatives/fake meats/veggies that taste like meat :(.
I love this product for making burgers. Not sure how it will taste from a fast food place.

I just checked the location by putting in my zip code. There’s a Carl’s Jr 2 miles from me, right across from Del Taco, and it says “try another location” so I’m assuming they don’t offer the free beyond beef burger.
Maybe try calling the Carl’s Jr. to be sure. Our store is participating, and we normally never do for these promotions.

Bought it at Whole Foods when I was vegetarian. It made me sick and I threw it all up. The meat smell was overwhelming. On the other hand, my husband scoffed it down and wanted more.

I tried the impossible burger from fat burger & really liked it. I often have meatless protein & thought the fat burger impossible burger was the closest I’ve tasted to an actual ground beef patty. It was around $11 but most of their burgers are around that price.
Does anyone know if the cheese from Carl’s Jr. is vegan?
It is Not. At Carl’s Jr. they are not allowed to call the burger vegan (even though the patty is) because of the way they prepare it. The cheese does use dairy, and the mayo on the sandwich does use egg. You can ask not to have those, but the patty is cooked on the same charbroiler as the meat products.

Thank you for the heads up – I tried this burger at Carl’s last night and it was very good. However, the regular price (if I had paid for it) is a whopping $7.29!! That is too bad as the price is significantly more than the other items on the menu. Although, I must say, I was surprised at how expensive Carl’s has become – $2.59 for a medium soda (McDonald’s is $1 for any size) and $3.29 for not-a-lot of onion rings (ours were overcooked and brittle). Kind of disappointing…
Sampled some from a food truck not too long ago. They are tasty. You get a beefy flavor without the annoying beef!
Honest question, if you find meat annoying why are you looking for beefy flavor? Do you miss beef?
No ethical dilemma, salmonella., mad cow disease, etc. Factory farmed beef isn’t that tasty to me. I just like the idea of a healthier burger.
I just picked up 2 for $5.50. Just bought 2 med size drinks. I must say…the burgers were HUGE!! And SUPER delicious! Taste just like beef without the greasy ‘hormone induced’ meat😝 I’m so thankful you posted!! And glad we had the opportunity to try it free first👏🏼🙏🏼🥰
OK, funny story about these burgers. They use beet juice to give the patties a pinkish color, similar to beef. We had a young lady come through the drive thru and order two of these. About 15 minutes later we get a phone call that we had put beef on the sandwich, not the beyond patty. The GM had actually made the burgers and was confident that it had been made with the right patty (we cook the beyond patties as ordered so we would notice if we had one left over). The caller was VERY upset and angry because she thought it was beef. She said it looked and tasted like beef, and her coworker who eats beef tasted it and agreed it was a beef patty. I tried to explain that was the point, they were supposed to look and taste like beef, but she was still very convinced it was beef. I apologized and asked her to bring the burgers back in so we could make it right. The coworker comes in, and starts scolding the GM for giving beef to a vegetarian. My boss looks at the burger and yup, its the Beyond. Apparently Beyond did such a good job mimicking beef that these ladies were convinced it was beef. We had to show her the uncooked Beyond patty and then how our beef patties look cooked before she would believe us. They come in pretty often to get them now, even the meat eating coworker. 🙂
That’s hilarious – it’s really cool that these companies are able to do such a good job at mimicking the beef texture anf appearance and taste! They should make posters or pamphlets that show the difference and similarities. Seems like a lot of people would be interested in learning more!
They just had a IPO on the stock market. Given the publicity and being backed by bog celebrities ., ill buy the stock too and use profits
I haven’t tried these at a restaurant but I do cook them at home. Mostly the ground beyond burger for tacos. Never noticed a strange smell but probably will now 🙃. I lie it and am turned off by “meat” lately. As mentioned they are expensive and sometimes hard to find even if a store advertises them.
