Husqvarna Automower robotic lawn mower

Your smart yard is here!

If mowing the yard is not your favorite chore, you’ll definitely want to meet the world’s smartest robot lawn mower, Automower. Thanks to the Husqvarna Automower, you can now have a beautiful lawn without lifting a finger (or pulling a starter cord) – and you can find this genius invention at Lowe’s!

Husqvarna Automower on yard

How does it work?

The Automower essentially maintains your yard by clipping a little grass at a time (but frequently) while also fertilizing the yard with those fine clippings, instead of mowing or cutting it once a week. As a result, your lawn always looks neat, green, and healthy!

Plus, one of the coolest features is that the Automower is designed to withstand wet, rainy weather and will continue cutting in dew or light rain. However, if it starts to rain and the downpour becomes too much, the unit will head back to the recharging station. Ummm… how cool is that?! 😱

Automower Connect app

Just install the app and let Automower do the work!

All Automower models come equipped with either Automower Connect or Connect@HOME, which gives you full control of the mower right in your iOS or Android smartphone via the Automower Connect app. You can easily send start, stop and park commands, check, and adjust settings right from your device.

The difference between the two models? Automower Connect models have longer mow time on one charge, and also feature GPS navigation, anti-theft tracking alarm, and Google Home or Amazon Alexa compatibility. The less pricey Automower Connect@HOME models get less mow time on one charge and will only allow you to send commands to the mower from up to 100 ft away via Bluetooth.

While the Automower may make your life simpler, it definitely comes with a price tag, ranging from $1,600 to $3,500, depending on the model. You can find these robotic lawn mowers on the manufacturer’s website, from authorized dealers, or online at Lowe’s (these select models only):

We have one, the largest model, and it mows just over 1 acre of our yard. It keeps up but probably couldn’t do much more without getting a second one. My husband and I are very busy in the summer with seasonal agriculture, so not having to keep up with mowing is revolutionary. It works beautifully, just as they claim, best investment ever!

That’s SO awesome to hear, Janice! Thanks for the feedback! Happy you have been loving yours!

We have one! It’s been about three years now. We love “him” haha…It’s our “lawn boy”. My husband was a die hard grass guy and then we got an automower. He loves the fact that our lawn looks like a golf course lawn, we have no weeds, and it works 24/7. People always stop and stare. Some ask questions. 🙂 We have a neighborhood horse that walks by and side-eyed it for awhile, but now is used to it. We still have to do some edging around garden boxes, and you have to make sure the kids don’t leave any toys out (small ones) otherwise he’ll eat them. But it’s been sooooo nice not having to be in the heat. We hear our neighbors lawn mowers roaring and we’re like “what’s that racket?!” he’s sooo quiet. He bounces off you if he hits you, so there’s no chance of injury to small kids. Again, I wouldn’t leave a baby on a blanket in the grass with him mowing, but you know, common sense. Overall, it’s been totally worth the investment (we added an additional GPS unit and paid over $3,000 for it, so loving that it’s going down in price!). We will definitely be buying another one. Fans for life!!

Oh cool! Thanks a TON for stopping by to share your experience! I never knew these existed until now! Good to know how helpful they are!

    • Kristen

I would be worried about people stealing it!!

      • Christine

It can’t be stolen. Not only does it emit a high pitched shrieking sound (haha!), but it also used GPS-technology so you will always know where it is. It won’t work anywhere else but where you tell it and in order to get it re-set, you have it take to a dealer, who would then know it was stolen.

Is your yard flat? I’m curious how it does on a modest slope. Also..you said it bumps off things..so this doesn’t work like a roomba and maps where it can and can’t go? I have a 1/2 acre pond and I’d hate to drop 2K just to watch it drive into the pond faster than I can run to catch it.

      • Christine

You have to lay guide wire to tell it where to go, and how far over that guide wire to cut. So if you have a garden bed, you would lay the guide wire around it, and then tell it to cut 3″ over the wire into your garden bed, if that’s where your plants tend to start. So, for your pond, you would lay the wire around the pond and it won’t go past the wire. Similar to the “virtual walls” that Roombas use. As for slopes, it has wha I call “Jeep-like” tires, so it has great traction on slopes. You can also outfit it with different tires if those aren’t good enough for your hills.

We love ours! It’s more like a pet than a mower. His name is “Clippy”. We have a very hilly yard and he easily maintains the areas that are a struggle to mow. Works 24/7 and even has a headlight so we can see where he is at night.

    • Liza (Hip Sidekick)

LOL! I love that name, Gia! Thanks for sharing how it’s worked for you!

  4. Susan

What percentage of a slope will this mower work on?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Susan! When you click through to the product page, be sure to keep scrolling down where you will find a chart that includes “slope management” details. Hope that helps!

  5. Cheryl

I think this would be a GREAT give-away to have!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Great idea, Cheryl! Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll be sure to pass that along to the team!

  6. Shelly

I would love one of these! Does anyone know how well they work with leaves? Can it mulch up the leaves or just push the leaves around the yard? Thanks!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hmm, Good question! I’m not finding anything listed on that. You could always call in to customer service to see if they might have more details – 1-800-445-6937 Hope that helps!

      • Shelly

        Thank you!

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

          You’re welcome!

  7. Nancy

I never knew these existed either! I am amazed and I think it just might be worth it. Even if it doesn’t get everything, I’d rather take the weed whacker or lawn mower to do just touch ups than have to worry about the majority of the lawn. It’s great to hear all this positive feedback. This is DEFINITELY worth looking into. Thanks again for making me aware of these new things, or at least new to me. Technology sure is making life easier in many ways. And Hip2BeHome is making me one very happy camper 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Aww, You are SO welcome! Super glad you are enjoying the new site! Thanks a ton for the sweet feedback, Nancy! 🥰

I totally saw this mower at Lowe’s..it will truly be one of the best Father’s Day gift idea… does anyone that owns one know if it’s compatible with Alexa?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh yes! Great Father’s day gift for sure! I don’t find any details on if it is compatible with Alexa. You could always call in to see if they have any further information on that – 1-800-445-6937.

      • MrsSanchez

        Amber…thanks..for providing a number..will call to ask..

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

          You’re very welcome!

We’re in Colorado, we live on an acre and a half. Don’t have grass like normal people…miss it!! But the weeds take over in the backyard and the prairie grass..still needs to be cut. Something like this would be nice as long as it’s animal friendly! I have 3 big fur babies that I’d want to make sure were safe of course. But this would be nice as long as it could handle the terrain…

    • cristinimartini

With constant running of this guy, weeds are non-existent because they don’t have a chance to grow. Your yard will look gorgeous!!! And we have an open backyard with our neighbors dogs running all around when they’re playing, no problems yet! Although, I wonder what it would do to a pile of poop! LOL…I haven’t experienced that yet!

  10. marie

Our neighbors have one, and my only worry is that we’ll accidentally run it over since it extends about a foot onto our driveway when turning around.
