Feel Like a Fancy Chef with This Kitchen Wall Pot Filler

Considering a pot filler in your kitchen?

A kitchen trend for some time now, a pot filler is a convenient water faucet located right above your stovetop range or cook top. With an arm that swings out over the burners, it can reach out over your largest pots, eliminating the need to fill pots at the sink (and then transfer those heavy pots to your stove).

Even though this has been a feature mostly seen in higher-end custom kitchens, we recently made the decision to install a new pot filler as part of our kitchen remodel, and I LOVE the result!

The pot filler makes it look like a fancy chef’s kitchen!

Although they may not be for everyone, I cook a lot, both as a food blogger and for my family, so it was worth the investment. I must say, though, I also LOVE how it looks, and it makes our kitchen stand out and feel more high end.

We don’t have a large custom kitchen; however, I have been slowly remodeling our builder-grade cozy kitchen for the last few years, and it’s come such a long way! The above photo is what it looked like when we first purchased our home five years ago.

Here’s what it looks like today after many changes over the years!

It’s small details like the pot filler that can make your home stand out, and I’m sure we’ll get our investment back if we sell our home – especially since I don’t see many homes in our price range with this feature.

Pot fillers come in varying finishes, sizes, and price ranges.

We purchased this Glacier Bay brushed nickel pot filler from HomeDepot.com because it matched our sink faucet and is reasonably priced compared to some fixtures I was comparing online. Also, if you look at the reviews, they are mostly very positive (we’re happy with how it works, as well). As far as installation, we hired a plumber to add the water line and then install the fixture, and it was about $200 in labor.

We did have one costly mistake that you can learn from – oops!

When we had the plumber install the water line, we didn’t realize how high from the wall this fixture extends up, so I had him install the line too high for the fixture – UGH. It was just bad planning on our part, and we didn’t realize until after the backsplash was installed, so some of the NEW tiles had to be ripped out and re-installed. The lesson is to double check those measurements. 🙂

You may be asking, is a pot filler necessary?

Well, the short answer is probably not necessary, but it’s a unique feature I enjoy looking at and using. In fact, when I just recently hosted a big crab boil, I used this giant 32-quart stock pot steamer, and the pot filler definitely came in handy! I can’t wait to use it to steam tamales as well.

For us, a pot filler was worth the investment for sure!
