Command makes just about every product you could need to hang pictures in your home from velcro strips to large hooks, small hooks, and every size (and color) in between!

They’re especially perfect for the most indecisive decorators or areas where you may not want to add holes such as cabinetry. Plus, they’re the most ideal option for high-traffic areas since you don’t need to worry about artwork getting knocked off the walls. The weight of your frame or decor you’re hanging will determine the type of hook or how many strips you’ll want to use. However, Command even makes shelves to make your life more simplified!

For this shelf, Lina used it to display her kitchen spices proving that the possibilities truly are endless with their products! They work perfectly, and they’re almost completely flush with the surface, which makes the strips hardly noticeable.

Another material Lina loves to use is this versatile Scotch indoor mounting tape.

Hip Tip: You can scoop up many different kinds of Command hooks for daily essentials, like hanging measuring spoons behind your cabinet, your Christmas stockings on the mantle, seasonal wreaths on your home or front door, hanging hats and jewelry in your closet – and many other useful purposes.

2. Gorilla and Monkey Hooks are a great one-step way to hang wall decor.

Monkey and Gorilla Hooks – $15.10 (regularly $19.75)

You can hang wall art and other seasonal decor up to 50 pounds with these Monkey and Gorilla Hooks. All you do is puncture the drywall with the long end, twist it around to lock, and insert the rest of the hook. (Make sure the end of the hanger hook is facing up as shown.) Then just hang your wall decor!

Something you may not have thought of is to lean your wall art, decor, and mirrors. In fact, it’s the best hack for how to hang pictures without nails! As a bonus, this also gives your space a more relaxed and laid-back vibe so it’s perfect for any space in your house that you want to feel extra cozy.

Plus, it’s a great way to be able to swap out decor, books, and picture frames without even having to deal with any holes or strips at all!

4. Use the toothpaste hack to be one and done with your screws and nails.

This hanging picture hack is going to be a lifesaver if you always struggle to get the screw or nail in the wrong spot and end up with 10 different holes in the wall. 😆 All you’ll need to hang your picture perfectly the first time is a dab of toothpaste, your picture, a screw or nail, and a screwdriver or hammer.

After squeezing a dab of toothpaste on the back of your bracket, simply hold it up to your wall where you want to hang it and press. Then you’ll have the perfect place where you’re photo needs to be hung! It’s THAT easy!

5. Use painter’s tape for decor that requires two nails or screws and get it perfect every time.

LRN2DIY shared a super helpful hack if you struggle to hang frames that require more than one screw or nail. Simply place a strip of painter’s tape on the back of your photo lining it up with the hooks on the back. Then draw a small mark on the tape where the screws will be hanging from. Transfer the tape to your wall and use a level to ensure your screws will be level. Voila! One and done!

Head over to LRN2DIY’s YouTube video for a more in-depth tutorial for this hack!

I use command strips for EVERYTHING…well almost. I have a gallery wall and it’s so much easier to line stuff up when you don’t have to measure and take into account where the hangers are on the back of the picture or whatever you are hanging. And I can vouch, as long as you clean the back of the item where the strip will go, and the spot where it’s hanging with some alcohol AND you push on it for 30 second or so, it hangs great and I’ve never had an issue with stuff falling!
I’ve also used the gorilla hook things too, those work well.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing how well the command strips and gorilla hooks have worked for you! πŸ’ž

I’ve had paint come off five times in one room of a rented apartment when using Command strips. I had to go to several stores across a few different trips to find sample containers of dark gray paint, and I never did match the paint. I got as close as I could. I got my entire deposit back.

I blame the management company for the damage. I could tell that they went with the cheapest option whenever possible. They didn’t even properly fumigate the 4th bedroom in my apartment(rent by the bed with basic furnishings) after a previous resident’s pet had fleas. That bedroom was used as storage for broken beds.

I used other strips from the same pack in my next apartment with no damage.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the damage and having to match paint colors to repair the wall in the first apartment you mentioned, Sara. Glad you were able to touch it up and get you deposit back – and that your next experience using command hooks in a new apartment went much smoother! πŸ™Œ
