I have an obsession with that store and have so many pieces I love! Our queen bed frame is the Skulsfjord, though we picked wooden feet, instead of the metal shown online. We have the Hemnes shoe cabinet with 2 compartments in our closet. ( I hide gifts in the drawers. ) For my son we chose the bed frame, dresser, and bed side table in the black brown Hemnes and the black brown Kallax cube storage. My daughter has the Leirvik bed frame and white Hemnes dresser, Lindved bed table and Eket to match. We also got her the Pahl desk with add-on unit. The desk legs extend higher, so it can ‘grow’ with her. We have the Bleckberget desk chair to match. We purchased four Ekedalen chairs to go with our kitchen table and bench. I like the Raskog to hold my craft supplies and the Vesken fits perfectly beside my washer to hold detergent and my wool balls/EOs. I plan on getting the Hemnes dresser, chest and bedside tables for our room next. The closest stores are three hours way in either Memphis or Atlanta, so we rent a minivan and go there to shop every couple months and make it a weekend trip.

How cool! Thanks for sharing your favorite items with us, Corina! I love the idea of making it a weekend trip! My nearest store is a few hours away too!

If you go the first weekend of the month and you have any Bank of America credit or debt card you can get into several museum s in or near at Atlanta. One of our favorites for our grandchildren is the Tellus Museum in Cartersville just off I – 75.

IKEA is my favorite store! I’ve heard people say that their furniture is a great short term solution due to its low cost but I disagree. I think if you aren’t rough with your furniture, it can last you a long time. I could spend all day in IKEA and trust their products and quality.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

They sure have some beautiful items! Thanks for taking a moment to comment! We sure appreciate the feedback!

I love IKEA, just wish we had one close by. The closest one is over 3 hours away.

IKEA is one of my favorite stores! The closest ones are either in Pittsburgh or Columbus, but it’s well worth the drive.
Like a previous commenter mentioned, you can make a weekend out of it.
We own a lot of IKEA furniture, and a lot of other items like dishes, bowls, towels, napkins and so on.
    We own the MALM bed.
Our dresser and wardrobe are also from IKEA, as are our living room table and entertainment center.
We have the Pjöang chair, an awesome rocking chair, and the Expedit storage shelf.
Last year, we bought a new couch, also from IKEA.
A lot of these pieces of furniture we have had for years, and they are still in excellent condition.

  5. Susan

Purchased one of the Hemnes dressers for daughter and son-In-law a few years ago. Now a baby in the way and they Wanted a white one for baby’s room so we bought another one. They love the dressers! yes it takes patience to put it together but so worth it and great price too!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Good to know how much they have loved that dresser! Thanks for sharing with us, Susan!

  6. Amy

Totally love IKEA! My queen bed frame, dresser, night stand, and our entertainment set is from the hemnes collection. It has been almost 9 years and it is still holding up after two moves and a crazy toddler who likes to open and close every drawer. My toddlers room has Malm dresser and night stands. Purchased Lego knobs from Amazon. It’s been three years and after one move (moved from LA to Texas) , still good. 🙂
Currently waiting for one of their sales so I can get more… 🙂
Ohhh… Kallax is good too! We use them for everything.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Good to know how well your items have held up through the years, Amy! Thanks for sharing your experience!

  7. ella

I love Ikea for a lot of things, but I think my favorite are the kitchen cabinets. We did a complete remodel of our 70’s kitchen 3 years ago and got rid of old low quality cabinets. The Ikea cabinets have so many great features- soft close drawers, special inserts, etc. We went with all lower drawers instead of cabinets and its unbelievable how much you can fit in a small kitchen when you organize with drawers instead of cabinets!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

That’s SO great to hear, Ella! Awesome that their cabinets are of great quality too! I’ll have to keep that in mind when we decide to replace ours!

  8. crystal

Number one thing from IKEA is the kallax shelf. Good lord we’ve got 10 of them in our house easy. One for ever kid. One for every adult. Two for entertainment centers, one for a nightstand, bookshelves, toy nooks, ALL THE WAYS YOU CAN POSSIBLY USE THEM. I even covered a grubby one that the kids colored on with patterned contact paper to jazz it up. Absolutely the best thing IKEA has to offer. I’ve built so many of them I don’t even need the instructions anymore and my sister timed me once to see how fast I could do it lol (15 minutes btw!)

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh cool! That’s awesome, Crystal! Thanks for sharing your favorite ikea item! I’ll have to look for those!

  9. Daria

My hands down favorite item at Ikea is the LYCKSELE sofa/bed. It slides from a sofa to a surprisingly comfortable full size bed in NO time. It’s approximately $120 with the slip cover in your choice of fabrics. The bed is not like the usual pull out mattresses. I do have a memory foam that I lay on top as added comfort, but it’s not needed. If you are short on space and need a bed for guests, you absolutely need to check it out!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

What a neat find, Daria! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  10. Lala

So the cute yellow kids’ bed is extendable… but what do you use for a mattress & bedding then? I love it but I’m confused

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Good question! If you click through the product link and then scroll down and click on “materials and environment”, you’ll find the “coordinating products”. I see a foam mattress and fitted sheet that work with this bed. Hoping that helps!
