Here’s our Hip team’s favorite grocery name brands worth paying full price…
“I am a southern mayonnaise girl – a very picky one. No matter the price, Blue Plate mayo is the only mayonnaise worthy of our family recipes; mom’s potato salad, pimento cheese, deviled eggs, tuna salad, home fries, mac n cheese casserole…it’s all better with Blue Plate. It’s really creamy, with just the right amount of tanginess that doesn’t intrude or overpower like Miracle Whip, but gives the perfect flavor base to build on.
Now that I’m thinking about my favorite southern comfort foods, I also swear by these red beans – I use them to make my cheater red beans, sausage and rice. Instead of several hours, it takes about 30 mins without giving up flavor or texture.” – Cara
“The one brand my family is super loyal to is Nabisco Oreos. We’ve tried a few other grocery brands of them through the years (ALDI, Publix, Walmart). I even bought some fakes and put them in the Nabisco packaging, but my kids and husband immediately knew 🤣. Nothing even comes close to the taste of Nabisco Oreos, so even if they are double the cost, they are worth it.
I feel the same about Lucky Charms cereal, like, I know that is not my magically delicious marshmallow. It’s General Mills or no cereal at all for me!” – Liz
“I’m the same about Post with their Fruity Pebbles. I have tried the generics, and I am confident that in a blind taste test, I would know the real Fruity Pebbles out of a group of wannabes. 😂 I feel that way about most generic cereals, and sometimes I don’t mind that they’re not spot on, but Pebbles are my fave so nothing comes close lol!“ – Emily
“Ooohh yes – so true about the Oreos! And also, Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa powder for baking and Heinz ketchup for me. Why do other brands of ketchup even exist?? 😂“ – Jenna R
“Oreos for sure. Also, Kellogg’s Raisin Bran – the generic and Post-brand versions just don’t taste as good. In fact, with most cereals, the generic versions always taste a little bit off.“ – Angela
“Best Foods Mayonnaise. I can’t with the avo oil ones or store brand. PS – Best Foods Mayonnaise continues to sell west of the Rockies, while Hellmann’s sells to the east. LOL!” – Lina
We can’t wait to hear your go-to grocery store name brands!
Stay tuned for more Hip Birthday giveaway posts all week long! 🎉 Until then, let’s get back to the deals…

Diet Coke, Brachs Candy Corn, and LaChoy Soy Sauce!
Kellogg’s brand cereals I love them and my kids always ask for the special k with blueberries.
Morton Salt!
Starbucks French roast k-cups
I am a big Coke fan. I refuse to drink any other brand.
Bragg’s apple cider vinegar.
My name brand which I love is Miracle Whip, and M & M’s candies.
Heinz Ketchup
Jif, Pop Tarts, Miracle Whip, Ritz
All free and clear laundry pouches. Heinz ketchup. Coke.
Duke’s Mayo
Campbells cream of mushroom soup. And Honey Nut Cheerios.

Publix brand potato salad the best!
Oreos
Golden Grahams, no one else does them right
Heinz Ketchup & Charmin toilet paper.
Crazy Richard’s Peanut Butter
International Delight coffee creamer!
Anything Kirkland. Costco’s store brand saves me on everything from dishwasher tabs to puppy pads- no matter what I know I’m getting name brand quality at a better price. Plus, if there’s any problems, Costco’s return policy is five star!
Ken’s Ranch Dressing! I swear I have family members that could drink it with a straw!
Lays potato chips. Love the flavors that they have and also the lightly salted. Have not found a brand that could come close to it.
Chocolate creme Oreos
Heinz ketchup and Hellman’s Mayo!
Diet coke
I’m a chip gal and can’t resist my favorite brand Lay’s! I would buy a case if I could
A1 Steak sauce and Duke’s mayo
Ocean Spray juices!
Best Foods Mayo. I have tried an avocado mayo and liked it then purchased it again, same brand, but the second bottle didn’t taste good. So I will probably never switch again.
I’m not brand loyal at all, except for Vlasic pickles, and that’s not a store brand. I’m not opposed to store brands if they’re cheaper at the time I need them. I do buy a lot of Nice nuts from Walgreens because they’re on sale a lot.
Kraft Ranch Dressing. We love Ranch Dressing, and only Kraft brand!
A1 sauce, best on burgers and steaks.
Texas Toast croutons, kids love them!
Barilla Pasta. They taste great!
Great value
Heinz and Oreos…full loyalty!
Diet Coke…cola isn’t the same! Cheetos and Pop Tarts are name brand at our house!
Texas girl here and it would be none other than that HEB brand. Cause HEB knows us and will never let us down! Love my Heb select and HEB organics!!
Pop Tarts
Diet Coke…cola isn’t the same! Cheetos and Pop Tarts are name brand at our house! Fortunately, we get a lot from Aldi’s so can splurge on a few name brand items!
The Big Kinders teriyaki sauce at Sam’s Club! Goes great with just about anything and the calories are great too!
Oops read wrong! I like all traders joes brand anything! Obsessed with that place literally! But all of their lip masks are a 10/10!
I like Eggo Thick and Fluffy Belgian Waffles!
Great value!
Cheerios. The generic brands just don’t taste the same.
The Costco or Aldi name brands whatever they are!!! Also Kroger. My fave stores!
Honestly, there’s not much that I wouldn’t get a store brand version of – especially when it’s so much cheaper!
