Here’s our Hip team’s favorite grocery name brands worth paying full price…
“I am a southern mayonnaise girl – a very picky one. No matter the price, Blue Plate mayo is the only mayonnaise worthy of our family recipes; mom’s potato salad, pimento cheese, deviled eggs, tuna salad, home fries, mac n cheese casserole…it’s all better with Blue Plate. It’s really creamy, with just the right amount of tanginess that doesn’t intrude or overpower like Miracle Whip, but gives the perfect flavor base to build on.
Now that I’m thinking about my favorite southern comfort foods, I also swear by these red beans – I use them to make my cheater red beans, sausage and rice. Instead of several hours, it takes about 30 mins without giving up flavor or texture.” – Cara
“The one brand my family is super loyal to is Nabisco Oreos. We’ve tried a few other grocery brands of them through the years (ALDI, Publix, Walmart). I even bought some fakes and put them in the Nabisco packaging, but my kids and husband immediately knew 🤣. Nothing even comes close to the taste of Nabisco Oreos, so even if they are double the cost, they are worth it.
I feel the same about Lucky Charms cereal, like, I know that is not my magically delicious marshmallow. It’s General Mills or no cereal at all for me!” – Liz
“I’m the same about Post with their Fruity Pebbles. I have tried the generics, and I am confident that in a blind taste test, I would know the real Fruity Pebbles out of a group of wannabes. 😂 I feel that way about most generic cereals, and sometimes I don’t mind that they’re not spot on, but Pebbles are my fave so nothing comes close lol!“ – Emily
“Ooohh yes – so true about the Oreos! And also, Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa powder for baking and Heinz ketchup for me. Why do other brands of ketchup even exist?? 😂“ – Jenna R
“Oreos for sure. Also, Kellogg’s Raisin Bran – the generic and Post-brand versions just don’t taste as good. In fact, with most cereals, the generic versions always taste a little bit off.“ – Angela
“Best Foods Mayonnaise. I can’t with the avo oil ones or store brand. PS – Best Foods Mayonnaise continues to sell west of the Rockies, while Hellmann’s sells to the east. LOL!” – Lina
We can’t wait to hear your go-to grocery store name brands!
Stay tuned for more Hip Birthday giveaway posts all week long! 🎉 Until then, let’s get back to the deals…
Kraft ranch salad dressing.
Great Value!
I have two grocery store brands I don’t like to compromise on. Tide detergent is just the best I’ve tried for getting the laundry clean. Also, when it comes to mayo, it has to be Best Foods. Recipes just don’t taste right with other brands.
I don’t really have one. I am always willing to try new or different brands.
Target up @ up
All great products!!
Best Foods aka Hellmans in the East US
Obviously I misunderstood store brand lol. I buy some Kirkland Costco items butter, Vodka
Coke Zero!!!
Publix brand
Great value Coffee creamer and Folgers coffee.
Gain detergent and Jif peanut butter.
Jack daniels bbq sauce ir pulled pork/beef
Trader Joeās brand!!!! Bomb!!!
I love Great Value for many products for myself and the food pantry I run. Excellent products at a relatively decent price.
Best Choice
Nutter Butter
Bunny Bread White Whole Grain bread. My family will only eat this for sandwiches. I get the double loaf from Samās on repeat. Iāve started making my own sourdough sandwich bread but itās a little sweet for garlic bread.
I guess I love Great Value and Kirkland, as Walmart and Costco are the two stores I shop the most. Great Value has amazing ice cream and it’s a great price. Kirkland brand hasn’t let me down yet – coffee pods, laundry detergent, chicken strips, it’s all good!
Target has really good selection! I check prices because most of the times itās cheaper if it has clearance tag!
topo chico drinks.
Great Value
Jif Peanut Butter
I enjoy Great Value brand and Kirkland.
I will not veer away from Dove Promises Dark Chocolate!!!!
Trader Joe
Heinz. No other ketchup is acceptable.
I love trader Joe’s brand especially their peanut butter and frozen veggies. Members mark sams club bakery and snacks and all paper products. Their clothing too
Frigo string cheese! My family and I hate store brand string cheese. I usually don’t mind store brands but not for string cheese.
Hellmanās Mayo and Frenchās mustard
Kirkland Signature!
Brand name-Kelloggās Special K cereal
Itās the Kroger Clicklist for me! Nothing like driving through to pick up your grocery order and having them load it all up in your car for you!
Targetās Up and Up products and their Good and Gather products consistently good quality.
Aldi or Equate brand
I love Giant and Aldi of course!
Nestle! šŖDawn! š§“Glad šļø
Coca-Cola. There’s just no store brand that can come close to it.
Aldi store brand.
Only Hellman’s Mayonnaise for us. We won’t settle for anything else. It’s our go to for sandwiches, salads, making salad dressings. Just delicious !!! š©āš³š
Only jif for peanut butter. Only Heinz for ketchup.
Dr Pepper!
Dr Pepper
Publix! Where shopping is a pleasure but prices are high! šš
LIDL-I have yet to be disappointed by anything from their store brand from pickles to chips we love it all.
Kirkland for sure!
Next would be Select brand from Safeway. I swear a lot of their branded stuff tastes better than name brand!
Although my husband is very picky when it comes to name brand items I am that person that will buy and pour store brand Hershey Chocolate in his original Hersheys bottle and he has not figured it out yet. I always buy store brand essentials like sugar, cooking oil and butter from which ever store Iām shopping at.
Best Foods mayo.
Kirkland
Kirkland Brand! Love Costco!!
Hellmans. No other mayo even compares!
Pillsbury cinnamon rolls with Lina’s hack, so good!!!
