Is Your Mini Fridge a Fire Risk? Frigidaire Just Issued a Recall
Here’s what you need to know about the latest Frigidaire recall…
Check your mini fridge! The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Curtis International are recalling over 600,000 select models of Frigidaire-brand minifridges due to fire and burn hazards. Thus far, over $700,000 in property damages have been reported.
Note that not ALL models are affected. The model numbers of the affected units are: EFMIS129, EFMIS137, EFMIS149, and EFMIS175 and were sold in 6- and 9-can sizes. Units may be black, red, or blue in color.
How do I find my model number?
The model number is located on the label(s) on the back of the mini fridge. Head here for more details on where to find the model number, and enter yours in the search bar at the bottom of the page to see if it is affected.
What to do next?
If you have an affected model, unplug it immediately, stop using the unit, and complete this online registration. Customers must cut the cord and write ‘RECALL’ on the front door. Submit photos of the label and recall lettering. Once uploaded and approved, you should receive a refund via physical check.

I have the model EFMIS149. When I put in the serial # it says my particular fridge isnโt part of the recall. So I guess itโs based on certain serial numbers paired with model numbers. Glad to know this recall so I could check mine. Thanks!
You’re welcome! Glad you were able to double check the details on yours!

Oh no! Sorry to hear that, Deb!
This is my first time seeing this post my house burnt down in February. The fire marshal said it was caused by the mini fridge plugged in the back room; we had just purchased it in December.
Oh Terry, Iโm so sorry to hear about your house fire. ๐ข๐ Sending lots of BIG virtual hugs your way!
