There’s a new website that’s been getting a lot of buzz lately and I had to see what the hype was all about. “Shop like a billionaire,” is one tagline for Temu, a shopping website that claims to offer quality products at dirt-cheap prices. Visit their homepage and you’ll see a huge selection of products, from socket wrenches to sunglasses. You’ll even spot lipsticks that cost just 71¢. Is Temu legit or are their offers too good to be true? To find out, I put Temu to the test and placed a few orders. Here’s what happened!
First, what is Temu, and is it legit?
Temu, pronounced tee-moo, is an online marketplace based in Boston that connects consumers to third-party sellers and manufacturers across the globe. The company states Temu means “team up, price down,” and that’s exactly what they aim to do. By pairing with the right third-party vendors, Temu is able to offer shoppers extremely low pricing.
That’s because these third-party sellers and manufacturers are all competing against one another to get your business. Another reason prices are so affordable is that Temu is able to leverage the reputation and negotiating power of its parent company, PDD Holdings which owns Pinduoduo, the top social commerce site in China.
Is Temu legit?
Yes. Temu is a legitimate company owned by a well-known corporation. Popular brands like Lenovo even have their products for sale on this website. Temu reviews are mixed, but keep in mind that the company is still very new. It seems that lately the company has had an abundance of orders and the delayed shipping times have resulted in some negative feedback. However, plenty of customers like Temu and report having a 5-star experience.
Is Temu safe?
Yes. Temu uses secure payment methods like PayPal, ApplePay, and more. They also have security measures in place to protect your personal information.

When I first checked out Temu’s website, I was in awe at the number of products available and the “too good to be true” prices. I spent a lot of time searching product reviews to decide what to buy and what sizes I needed. I ended up purchasing a handful of products, including some cute accessories for my dogs (and bffs), Dolly and Gary. As for delivery, I received everything I ordered in the expected time frame, and each item was individually wrapped.
How long does it take Temu to deliver?
That’s the hot question that so many people want to know. I can say that I placed my orders on 2/22 and 2/24 and they arrived on 3/7 and 3/8, respectively. That’s just about 2 weeks. When you place an order, Temu gives you a delivery estimate so you know when to expect your goods to arrive. My delivery was on time and up to my expectations!
Many Temu reviewers expressed disappointment with delivery, but I believe that is due to consumers expecting shipment to be as fast as Amazon. That’s just not going to happen when you shop from Temu, but in exchange for longer delivery times, you get rock bottom prices. To be happy using Temu, it’s best to set your delivery expectations accordingly. I did, and I was pleased with the service and the goods I received.

The pros and cons of shopping at Temu.
There were a lot of things I liked about my shopping experience. My favorite parts about the site were similar to the other Temu reviews I’ve read.
Here are the major perks about using Temu’s online marketplace:
- Temu offers TONS of coupons, discounts, and promos.
- The company provides order status updates complete with tracking.
- The low price can’t be beat and they usually always have coupons too.
- My items may not have been Anthropologie quality, but I was pleased with them, and a couple of products were even the exact same items as those from Amazon.
- There are free returns within 90 days.
I was very surprised that the quality of the items I bought was similar to that of major retailers like Amazon. I am honestly shocked at the quality I received for the price I paid. No, the quality wasn’t the same as a luxury store, but the items were well-made for being so budget-friendly. That alone makes Temu worth checking out in my book. The company also offers extra coupons and promotions that can get the price down even more! 🙌
Where can you find a Temu coupon?
One of the perks I liked about Temu is that they have a designated coupons and offers page. Check this page before purchasing to see if there are any Temu coupons you can use.
So, is Temu legit? Yes, they are but they could still stand to make some improvements. I did notice a few negatives about my experience and they were similar to what other Temu reviews mentioned.
Here are the areas where Temu could stand to improve:
- I felt spammed since I received 67 emails from them since 2/22 and at least 21 texts (I finally turned the texts off).
- The wait time for delivery is longer than other online stores.
- The sizing of products can vary greatly.
Yes, Temu contacted me WAY too much. I would suggest someone unsubscribe OR use a throwaway (aka not their main email address) when ordering. I have a Gmail account just for some sites like this because I know they are spammy.
The second con had to do with the wait time. I was expecting to have to wait two weeks but I know some shoppers might become impatient since they receive faster delivery from stores like Amazon. I will say that Temu does give you an immediate $5 credit if your order does not arrive by the promised delivery window. However, I did see some reviewers were fully refunded because Temu could not fulfill their orders at all. 😬
If your item is late and you need to speak with someone at the company, the Temu Customer Service number is (888) 495-8368. You can also request a phone call from them on their website or email them at help@temu.com.
Also, reading the reviews is a must. This helps with sizing issues for anything clothing or material related. I ordered Dolly a set of doggie pajamas and had to get XXL due to the reviews. She is usually a medium or large in most department/pet store brands. To be fair, Amazon is the same way and you have to read the reviews and sizing to see if they are true to size. Size adjustment aside, she did look pretty adorable in the PJs I bought her!
Don’t forget to check out the Temu app.
Get Temu at your fingertips by downloading their app. One reason to do so is that you will get what’s called a “first order allowance.” You spin a wheel and you might win a cash allowance to spend. My teammate, Kara, spun the wheel and got an instant $100 allowance. 🤑
Overall, I enjoyed using Temu.
So, is Temu legit? It is. I will – for sure – be ordering from Temu again. I loved the large selection of products and the amazingly low prices. I’m aware of the issues related to shipping and delivery, so if I set my expectations accordingly, I believe I’ll continue to have a good experience.

Temu is very much like wish or aliexpress in my experience with it. Quality is questionable, but stuff is super cheap.

I have placed a few orders from them and so far everything was as expected. I really enjoy shopping there since the prices are a lot less expensive than Amazon. My orders have taken about a week which I am ok with.

I’ve ordered probably a dozen times. Returns are super easy. Almost everything I’ve gotten has been great. It’s all stuff you can find on amazon but cheaper.

Yup, that’s China. There is legit reason to be skeptical of their companies, websites, operating procedures, etc. (It’s also the reason items are so cheap and delivery times are so long… never a good sign!)
Placed many orders on Temu in the last few months – I’ve been pleased with everything & you can beat the prices ! It’s literally the exact same items you will find on Amazon for so much less. Shipping time is a little longer, but worth the savings if you ask me.

Shipping taking to long… 🤔 hmmm I wonder if anyone has told this to kohls. Lol I always forget what I order from kohls by the time it arrives. 🤣 or I no longer need it!
I’ve not shopped from Temu but may just give it a shot if shipping is the only negative part. I think when prices are that cheap, the quality is expected to be less than. 🤷🏻♀️

The parent company is a Chinese online shopping platform, all goods are from China, which my experience is not reliable products. 🙁 Personally, I would support local or made in US.

What’s a good company usa based and usa made that you recommend?
Lots of US made goods. American Plastics, Green Toys, Knex, some Play Doh products and Little Tykes are some good examples of toys made here. Fat Brained Toys has a whole section devoted to US made toys. I highly recommend never buying products for children from a site like Amazon or Temu, as products shipped directly from China do not adhere to safety standards and are much more likely to contain harmful chemicals, lead or just be dangerous.
For some reason I thought it was a spying app like Tiktok but I am glad that people are getting such good deals. I think 1-2 weeks is normal for shipping times. The younger generation wants it the same day or the next day. Sometimes that doesn’t work. LOL
I have ordered 3 times and been satisfied. Obviously you get what you pay for, so I was not expecting high quality. My orders came in 2 weeks. Things I ordered were mostly for kid gift bags, which I think is exactly what this site is for lol. Think cute kawaii pens, scrunchies, little mermaid dolls, etc. I ordered one of those heatless satin headbands that you wear overnight for under $3 and it is just as nice as the one I got on Amazon for $15. Yes, everything is made in China, but so is a lot on amazon.

Hi Susan! My initial order also came with that disclaimer but still arrived on schedule to what they promised. I think for me if it’s something I don’t need immediately it’s a great way to save money on certain things. So hopefully yours won’t take too long.
I’ve been very happy with Temu. The fact that shipping is free puts them far ahead of Wish. Don’t expect sterling silver, but they have very cute and different earrings for way cheap! Cute socks as well. I now check on the the Temu app before I order anything from Amazon (some of the price differences will shock you😃)

I have ordered once and honestly didn’t like the quality of about half of the items that I ordered. I think it is a good place to order party favors, easter basket fillers and the like. I would stay away from electronic accessories though. I ordered 4 charging cables/adapters and three of them did not work.

like TikTok, Temu collects data, such as a user’s name, phone number, IP address, and geolocation, from US customers as part of their day-to-day operations. Of course, they sell Chinese items for cheap…..the money-making product is actually your personal data.

I agree, you get what you pay for in dollar but also in hidden fee of your data. I’m actually surprised Temu review is on here. I’m sick of seeing their ads on Youtube and now I see them on here. I do wonder if they paid various site to do reviews for them. I watch this site often for good deal but I don’t think Temu is overall a good deal.

I always like to try out these viral sites, and I love a great deal, so when the conversation began, I was able to chime in with my honest and unbiased feedback! We really do try and vet sites and products so that we are providing you all with the best information possible. For me personally, there are so many apps and even our phones that are already tracking or pulling data, that it wasn’t an issue for me when deciding to order or not. It’s for sure up to the individual to what works best for them.

I will not participate in the this app because it highlights America’s materialistic mentality. We buy it because it’s cheap, not because we need it, will use it or support the company that’s makes the item . How sad that in this economy hip2save decides to promote a deal on purchasing dog pajamas instead of a deal on well made, American made, necessary items that will be worth the investment.
If you’re expecting a very popular deal site to cater to only high-quality, American made necessities…good luck. It would be a nice option to have out there, but it DEFINITELY wouldn’t be as big and as popular as Hip2Save.
The stuff is also terrible for the environment. We prioritize cheap stuff that doesn’t last over paying more for quality items that last and all the stuff just ends up in landfills. It’s like fast fashion.

A few point to consider. Why would a Chinese company selling cheap Chinese made items need access to your personal photos? Why would they want to track your phones location ongoing? The App clearly states it has access to those items. What happens to that info. when it is transferred outside of the USA? Does anything happen to foreign companies that misuse US citizen’s data?
Have you been watching the TikToc CEO testifying this week before Congress? Have you listened to the questions he is being asked and his responses?
Be educated and decide for yourself.

I ordered from Temu for the first time recently and got my items after 2 weeks. Everything I got was low quality (storage bags for blankets, packing cubes, crossbody bag). It was worse than dollar store quality and I plan to return everything!! There were 2 kids hair accessories that looked decent, but I didn’t bother opening them because I want to return as an entire order to get my money back. Also, a food chopper I got showed the prettiest mint green color (online and on the box), but when I opened it, it was the most ugly gray/green. I was hopeful because of the good reviews, but my experience has not been good.

Your review was extremely fair and honest. It covered everything from A to Z and allows those who read it to make a choice whether to shop on Temu or not. As for myself, I agree with Jan’s post that reminds us all that there can be risks associated with getting a good deal. I’ve run into this same issue with other websites offering unbelievable prices and freebies. I don’t want 60+ additional emails from anyone. Even if you opt out from receiving emails your information may have already been sold. It’s not worth saving a few bucks.

Wake up folks! China sent us the virus. They are taking over our american jobs. Teaming up with the brics nations to start new currencys we cant be in screwing the dollar globally. But hey, the crap is cheap.
I just got my first order a few weeks ago. I got some gardening supplies which seem fine. The leather work gloves are very nice and under $6. The item I really like is the rechargeable motion detector lights. These can be quite expensive on Amazon when you buy them in multiples like I did.. I’m able to keep a lot of lamps off now and only have the area illuminated as I pass by. They’re great for closets and pantries too. Anything to cut down on the electric bill these days!

Ordered a few times without issue. Stuff arrived pretty quick and great prices. But I just placed a couple new orders on the 15th and 16th. It’s the 22nd. They haven’t even shipped yet. We’re within a week of the outside delivery window, so we’ll see what happens when the items don’t arrive on time.

I placed 2 orders back to back because the coupons I got for my first order expired in less than 2 days. So I made the second order the same day as the first. It all came in one bag. I agree with everyone about the quality of some products not being the best. My biggest beef so far is the poor packaging. If it all came in a box rather than thrown in a baggie, things would be better. I got a small craft cutting board that is warped. I have it stuck in between 2 heavy boards hoping it will flatten out. Time will tell. A couple items came in their own little box because they had multiple pieces. Those boxes did get beat up a bit but the items made it ok. So overall my experience has been good. Just keep in mind, you get what you pay for. I will be ordering again sometime.

I’ve placed several orders from Temu. Some items are a big win and some are not. What I like the most about Temu is I can return the items I don’t like or that don’t meet my expectations for free. I box them up, label them and then drop them off at my UPS store. Also, if you purchase something, even if it has not shipped yet, and see that the price has gone down, you can request a price adjustment. I have done that multiple times and they will refund you pretty quickly. My orders take about two weeks and most have come in orange bags. The last order I received came in a box. I like most of the things I have gotten there.

I love shopping the Temu website. I have had awesome shopping experiences. I have ordered over a dozen times. I think people have to have reasonable expectations. 98% of my purchases have been good to great quality. I dont think you can have luxury expectations at the price you are paying. I appreciate that Hip to Save has shown the positive and the negative. It is nice to see a balanced insight. I have had longer ship times from Kohls than I have from Temu. If you have reasonable expectations you will enjoy Temu. They are also good to their word on credits. I have recieved credits every time an order has been delayed and even when they have had extended delays for out of stick items. It is free shipping so give it a try!
I tried it, twice. I compared items I got with items from legit retailers. They sell knock off items and post them as the real thing. I had the real thing of two items that I got Direct but had a relative that adored these items. They were significantly cheaper am through Temu and looked exactly the same online. Marketed as the originals. When I got them there was obvious differences that were only caught if you had the originals. Yet they still put the copyright of the original artists on them while stealing their work. For example, one artist makes their creation on earth friendly products, including the packaging. It was very clear that the fake was not as earth friendly. Looking closer their were print errors but you had to look really close. Just know that you are getting fakes. Man, I’d show pics if I could.
that’s what I thought it was, all the same knockoffs all over amazon and sadly all over Etsy now (what has happened to Etsy they let people sell all sorts of fakes now)
IT”S a SCAM!!!! The “FREE” gifts even when you played and had your friends added to get a free gift. IT’s a SCAM! I never got anything free.

I just received my first order today. It took about 2 weeks. I order 3 shirts for the summer. All are good quality, soft feeling and fit. Yes I had to “size up”. Im usually a 2X but had to order a 5X. (that made me cringe a little lol) but no matter what the tag says I am still the same size! I will definitely order again!

I have been meaning to message HIP2SAVE about Temu 😂. My siblings and I have been shopping it for a few months now and we like it. Shipping really just depends, my first order came in a week and then my next order came in two weeks. I really like how cheap the stuff is and honestly it’s just fun to browse. I think what some of the stuff is is product’s that didn’t quite meet quality inspection maybe because I’ve seen Starbucks tumblers without the bucks logo but the circle in the middle for like $8-$10 and I’m pretty sure there’s a Stanley Tumbler look a like for $11-18. My sister in law got a HydroFlask thermos for $18 and it actually says HydroFlask. So who knows where this stuff comes from 😂🤷🏻♀️ I enjoy inexpensive things and it’s a fun site.

I’ve been shopping with them for several months. I’ve received a few things of questionable quality, but I’d say majority is A ok to me! The few things I didn’t like were immediately credited. Also, if anything is delayed in shipping or receiving of your items, you get an automatic credit of $5. Some of my faves were my 6in showerhead and 2 adjustable arm faucet heads. The water pressure is increased thru them and Awesome!

I placed 2 large orders and I was extremely disappointed in the quality of their products!! I should have waited to get ORDER #1 before placing order #2. I will NEVER place another order with this company and I advise everyone to be SUPER CAREFUL…..if it seems too good to be true….IT IS!!

It’s a gamble. I’ve ordered clothes and accessories in four orders so far. I was honestly surprised at how nice the clothing was in the first order. The second and third order were as expected. My fourth order was full of lies. LOL. I ordered an “organic cotton” sweater which was actually acrylic and a “linen” shirt that was actually cotton. That said, I found the sweater (correctly described) on Amazon for twice the price I paid. 🤷🏻♀️

how is it different than just buying from AliExpress? it’s all just cheapo Chinese goods right? And most everything on amazon can be found on aliexpress and likely Temu but I think I’ll stick with AliExpress.
I’ve ordered aa few times and 2 items I had to return. The blouse was too small eventhough I followed their size chart. And one other item was not working as described. I tried to return both but Temu just credited back my account and let me keep the items. I think it’s cheaper not to send them back. Another item I bought – motion sensor light for pantry stopped working after a month. It says on their website to email the manufacturer if it stops working. I just tossed it. I don’t think it’s worth my time to email them back and forth.

I have purchased from Temu several times this year and have been very satisfied because I realize if I’m getting free shipping and paying $.69 for 8 yards of colorful lace, I’m not expecting a handmade, premium product. I know what I’m ordering. I keep my expectations at that level.
I mainly order office supply items, craft items, and small home decorating or personal products. Everything I’ve ordered has been way cheaper than Amazon or Walmart and I don’t feel the quality is out of line with the price.
I have not purchased clothing, shoes, or electronics from Temu so I can’t comment on the quality or sizing.
I don’t have a problem waiting one week, that’s my typical wait time, for delivery.
I have never had to make a return, because Temu has simply credited my account and tell me to keep the item. Granted, these items are usually under $5.
But I do agree, the amount of emails and texts is extreme. I had to go back into my account and turn off all that communication.

I place an order from Temu 3 weeks ago in hopes I would receive before went on VK for Easter. Still have yet to receive the order. Temu credited my account for $5 I hope to receive the order before go. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the Us postal service that deliveries the packages? Thank you.

I went ahead and tried it, I bought six tops for $26 using the new coupon, you can’t beat the prices. I am one to spend more on my family or my kids and not myself, so this was a little treat for myself. I really like the fact that if there’s any issues you can return for free which really beats a lot of the other competition apps. Free shipping is a plus. That’s why I went ahead and did it. There are many good US made products/companies. Some American made toys are K’nex, Little Tykes, American Plastics and Green Toys. Some Play Doh products are also made in the US. Fat Brain Toys has a whole section of US made toys in its website.

I have recently received my first two orders from Temu. Lots of ridiculously cheap items. Most items were actually decent quality. I’ll be ordering from them again.

Just received my order that was placed on Mar 7. I did receive $5 in credit for late delivery. The quality of the products are awesome. Same as those I mostly buy on Amazon but for a fraction of the cost. It’s definitely worth it.

I’ve ordered 6-8 times…very helpful and inexpensive for party decorations (garlands, balloons, unique giftbags, along with hair bows and clips for my daughter, cute purses, keychains, pencil and makeup bags, craft needs like crochet needles. Has saved me a lot! I’m planning a milestone birthday for my dad and found fairy lights and faux flowers for cheaper than amazon. Yes, takes longer to receive, but I’m ok with that. I bought a few dresses for my toddler, hit or miss, some were great quality/adorable, others I didnt like. I’m sticking to the party, hair, and craft accessories…also cleaning brushes. 🙂

I’ve been purchasing from Temu since last November. Shipping was super quick then because the app was pretty new. It has obviously exploded since then, but they’ve relatively kept up with shipping and I’ve had very few issues with things like items being refunded for being out of stock. I have had a few issues with returns ‘not being received,’ but customer service has corrected the issues. The item quality is as good or better than Amazon in most cases, and I’ve purchased a wide variety of items.
Now, within the last few weeks, two to three, shipping has come to a standstill. This seems pretty universal, it’s all over Reddit and we’ve all been receiving credits for the delays. I’m not sure what the exact issue is, I’m guessing it’s a variety of things. One major factor is likely Chinese New Years which is a major event mid February. With smaller retailers, many freeze shipments during that time as a lot of factories halt production during that time. With all due respect to American shoppers, it wouldn’t kill us all to do a tiny bit of research on foreign customs of countries we do business with. Temu isn’t Amazon. You don’t have Amazon there to handle delays with CNY (Chinese New Year), you don’t have their guidelines and regulations for sellers to protect you from delays. There are a ton of factors with buying overseas, including the role of foreign governments, shipping partners and logistics.
I have very little doubt that my items will be received, eventually. Clearly Temu needs to adequately prepare for growth and circumstances like CNY. Educate customers and be transparent about delays. I guarantee they are hiring as fast as possible to keep up with demand. Larger sellers seemed to vastly reduce listings, again likely because of CNY, but some didn’t either out of greed or naivety. Temu needs to regulate their sellers appropriately as well.
Long story short, Temu is cheap, the items are good quality for what you pay, the ethics of production are questionable at best (subject for a different day) and buying direct can be unreliable as you are subject to a lot of factors outside of your control. Be willing to wait, buy way ahead of when you need items, expect to deal with customer service for damages, things like delayed refunds, lost items, etc. Know what you’re getting into. If you don’t like doing business this way, pay more for Amazon or ethically sourced items.

I ordered 4 dresses for my 91 year old mother for $36 and we are happy with all. Of course a couple of them are favorites, but a great deal for her. I did have to take hems up 3 in. because she is shrinking. She is happy to have some new things on a limited budget.
