Stay away from Raw Sugar’s hand sanitizer, though. 👎
As much as we love this brand’s amazing fragrances, they just don’t seem to work in the form of hand sanitizer. Unfortunately, Raw Sugar’s heavenly aromas get lost under the smell of alcohol and come out smelling like a cheap tequila hangover. Don’t ask us how we know that – just trust that this is not a pleasant smell!
These hand sanitizers do contain 62% alcohol as recommended by the CDC and they certainly smell like they would kill germs, so they’re probably effective if you can get past the smell.
If you do decide to try this sanitizer for yourself, you may want to take a whiff first. Don’t apply it to your hands and then decide that you can’t live with the scent – it’s powerful and it will linger through multiple hand washings!
LOVE Raw Sugar body wash! My fav is the vanilla bean and sugar! Haven’t tried the lotions yet but I will soon 😊 Also love that they donate one soap for every one you buy 👍🏼
Is it grainy like a scrub? Or smooth like regular body wash?
It’s super smooth and clear. Looks like regular clear body soap but it’s awesome 😊
that’s funny, my daughter and I love the hand sanitizer. We read that it has bad reviews but we don’t mind the scent at all and actually prefer it to all others so far.
Same, mine doesn’t smell like that. It’s the best smelling hand sanitizer I own…. both bottles I have smell nice.
Watermelon Mint smells like bubbalicious gum…my favorite!

I agree on the hand sanitizer! I am not picky about smells at all and the smell of the hand sanitizer I bought from literally makes me nauseous. It smells good for a split second and then the horrible after smell hits! It is SO bad.
I wish they still sold the soap refill bags. Love their products!!
I bought their hand sanitizer a few months ago because it was the last bottle in the whole hand sanitizer section, and it had been very hard to find any. I actually like the scent! My grandma, sister, and kids recently used it and all commented on the pleasant smell. It’s the coconut and lemon verbena one. Not sure if they have other kinds, but I’d like to try more of their products after reading this. My kids use their bath fizzers and love them, too!
I agree and didn’t like the hand sanitizer at all, it almost felt grainy to me. I’d also say the foaming hand wash is not my favorite, but I love their other products.
Thanks for this post! I had wondered how their other products were after I tried their hand sanitizer first😂. I was at Grocery Outlet a few months ago and way up on a top shelf they had a few bottles (this was when you couldn’t find any hand sanitizer anywhere). I really like the coconut verbena scent, but agree it is a little strong, but no stronger than Bath and Body Works. I’m definitely going to try the lotion!

Love the men’s line too!!! The mango one is great!! We have the hand soap, lotion, bar soap, body scrub and the body washes!!
I bought the big bottle of hand sanitizer in the coconut scent and the smell is not bad, but it is thicker than normal hand sanitizer and beads up when you put it on your hands. I saw smaller bottles at Target the other day that were clear and more liquid than the one I bought previously and the smell was horrible on all of them.
I bought my sons the gift sets at Christmas and they liked all of the men’s products. I like the hair masque, body wash,lotion,bar soap and soap.
I LOVE the coconut, lime, verbana foaming hand wash. Decided to try it on a whim and fell in love.
I’m a huge fan of this brand, too! I didn’t care for the lemon sugar scent as much but I am in love with the green tea + cucumber + aloe vera scent. I love the body lotion and the whipped sugar scrub. I also use the deep conditioning hair mask and it leaves my hair so silky. I’m looking forward to trying the shampoo and regular conditioner next. What experiences did your team have with the shampoo/conditioner?

I just recently fell in love with this brand too!!!! The watermelon body wash & hand soap!!! 🥰 I love their shampoo too but the conditioner makes my hair impossible to brush!! All the products smell amazing!!!
I’ve been using their lemon body wash for a couple of years now and it’s still my favorite. At Christmas last year I bought myself a raw sugar gift set to try other scents and wasn’t impressed. They just aren’t strong enough.
Love Raw Sugar. The Peppermint and Sea Salt Hans sanitizer doesn’t smell awful.
I really like this brand also. The hand wash, lotion, and scrub are all excellent.
Pineapple + Maqui Berry + Coconut and Raw Coconut + Mango smell the best to me by far! I have used the body wash and sugar scrub. I love sugar scrubs because they melt, unlike the other scrubs that make a residue mess in the shower.
I have been using Loma hair care products for years and like them a lot – but I see Raw Sugar products are substantially cheaper. I know both company’s products are Vegan and Animal Cruelty Free – and Loma is “Made In The USA” while Raw Sugar is “Created In The The USA” – I am curious as to what the differences in the brands are ? Is there a web site that provides this comparative analysis ?
