Try this pumpkin spice latte recipe at home.
Starbucks fans – make this easy Pumpkin Spice Latte at home!
Starbucks has officially released its infamous PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte), but wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy the seasonal splendor without having to leave the house and pay over $5? 🤔 Whip up your own DIY version using real pumpkin purée whenever the mood hits.
This easy drink recipe is so simple to make, and it rivals any coffee shop. Not only that, but it’s so much cheaper to make your own at home, too!
Pumpkin spice is life…but actual pumpkin is better!
Unlike traditional pumpkin spice lattes, our version uses real pumpkin purée to get your fall flavor fix. I promise this will taste even better than using syrup! Plus, it’s super easy to melt the purée with a little pumpkin pie spice along with your favorite type of milk.
Pumpkin Spice Latte
yield: 2 SERVINGS
cook time: 10 MINUTES
total time: 10 MINUTES
All the seasonal flavors of pumpkin spice in a warm, smooth latte.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin purée
- 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar (or more if you like yours really sweet)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup strongly brewed coffee or espresso
- whipped cream & extra pumpkin spice (topping)
Directions
1
In a small saucepan on the stove over medium heat, melt pumpkin purée with pumpkin pie spice for a few minutes. Stir in sugar.
2
Add milk and vanilla extract and whisk the mixture together until warm, not boiling.
3
Blend milk with a frother or hand blender until frothy. Pour the sweetened pumpkin milk mixture over the coffee. You can adjust more or less coffee depending on how strong you would like the flavor.
4
Top with whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin pie spice, if desired. Enjoy!

Here are a few tips for creating the perfect pumpkin spice latte at home:
- Don’t have a milk frother to make lattes? No problem! I actually used my immersion hand blender to froth my latte, and it worked out great!
- For an iced latte, freeze coffee in an ice cube tray and add it to your drink. As the ice melts, the coffee flavor intensifies!
- Not sure what to do with your leftover pumpkin purée? Use it to make any of our favorite pumpkin recipes!
You’ll love this version a latte!
Feel free to top your latte with some whipped cream and a little more pumpkin spice if desired. SO YUMMY! I love that this DIY version of the pumpkin spice latte has an authentic and rich pumpkin flavor with a touch of sweetness.

Yum! I’m going to try it!
Enjoy! Thanks Bianca!
Wow ty sounds great I would also suggest may be extra work but adds a lot of flavor to buy a baking pumpkin bake in oven then use purée from real pumpkin makes home smell nice too. Ps you can freeze the leftover purée Thanks again:)
Great idea! Thanks!!
Yes, love the latte mug!
Thanks!
Cool idea. Pumpkin spice lattes don’t even have real pumpkin in them, so this is definitely a step up! I love your DIY approach to home cooking! <3
Aw THANKS <3
Lina, this sounds so good, and …super easy. thx as always. keep up the good work and God bless
THANKS Babymair! <3 Enjoy!
Another tip for the leftover pumpkin…if anyone is having issues “going,” pumpkin is a natural laxative! Our vet had me give the dog canned pumpkin and it worked like a charm. I remembered that tip when our daughter was born and always kept some pumpkin baby food on hand. 😉
Thanks for the tip! I’m sure it will come in handy for me.
It actually works (in dogs at least) if they need help “going” or are “going” too much. Pumpkin to the rescue! It’s amazing stuff!!
I tried both recipes and both were yummy! For the bread, I added pecans and I made a cream cheese and cinnamon frosting to put on top and it is so good. Even the kids like it and they don’t normally like pumpkin flavored treats.
Way to go!! ❤️👊🏻 Sounds delicious Kimberly!
That sounds delicious, could you please share this yummy sounding recipe?? I would greatly appreciate it!! 🤗🤗

This leave a lot of left over pumpkin; if you need another idea for using it? I add a can of pumpkin to my chili! YES CHILI! It adds nutrients, makes the chili thicker and no one EVER notices 🙂
Yes! We have a recipe here that I tried and loved! Great idea https://hip2save-com-develop.go-vip.co/2015/10/16/slow-cooker-pumpkin-ground-turkey-chili/
Or, I’m wondering if you could measure out multiple 2 Tablespoon chunks of pumpkin and freeze those, then use one whenever you want a latte? 🤔
Yes that would work. Maybe in an ice tray?
This is latte is AMAZING! I have a sweet tooth, so I added about 1/2 teaspoon more sugar and increased the pumpkin spice (too much came out). This definitely surpassed my expectations, and will save me SO much money!
That’s so great Katrina! I agree so 😋 YUM. Thanks for trying the recipe!
Anyone know how to make this into a Frappuccino?
I would probably add the pumpkin base to frozen coffee ice cubes in a blender.
You can froth milk in a French press coffee maker, too. Works really well.
Oh great tip! Thanks for sharing 👍
Yummy!!! This is a Keto Friendly ?
Hi Evelyn! Here is the Keto recipe! https://hip2save-com-develop.go-vip.co/hip2keto/recipe/diy-pumpkin-spice-latte-recipe-starbucks/ 🙂
I made this Keto by subbing heavy cream for milk and using swerve instead of sugar. Still tastes amazing.
Thanks!!
Unusual combinations! I am always looking for new ways to use pumpkins!
Thanks and enjoy!
Hubby was complaining about the giant pumpkin pie from Costco taking up all the space in the fridge. I remembered this recipe and used it (minus the added sugar and extra flavorings) to make myself a nice PSL. Yum!
Awesome!! And lol those pies are big 👍
This is amazing. I make it as a treat sometimes when my mom comes over to babysit the kids. Powers us through! I froze the remaining pumpkin into ice cubes, which I assume are around 1T each. Works great!
I love that idea! Great tip about freezing into ice cubes!
Yes! and you can have it year round.
Don’t have a milk frother to make lattes? No problem! I actually used my immersion hand blender to froth my latte, and it worked great! I don’t have either but maybe I can whip it up the old fashioned way with a whisk or a hand held blender.
That’s super smart – thanks for sharing 👍
Is there a way to use this with hot tea?
I would just substitute your favorite tea in place of the coffee. I’m not a coffee drinker either, so I’m going to try it with tea and I’m sure it will be great!
For the substitution method for tea, maybe try a spicy tea like Bengal Spice Tea. That might go well with pumpkin.
I don’t have a hand blender. Any other ideas? 🙁
You could just use a small kitchen whisk for a couple minutes until frothy.
👍Thank you Lina

Oh yay! Thanks for sharing that with me 🥰
Thanks, will be trying it! But I love your mug, do you mind sharing where you got it?
Hi Joanne, this is a Rae Dunn mug from Kirklands store a few years ago. I noticed HomeGoods has lots of Rae Dunn.
Thank you!
