Make This Pesto Egg in Bagel Recipe In Your Air Fryer!
This egg in bagel recipe features savory pesto and feta cheese for an easy air fryer breakfast idea!
Here’s an egg-cellent bagel breakfast to try.
Put that air fryer to good use by cooking an egg inside the middle of a bagel! Similar recipes are sometimes called baked egg in a hole and it’s quick and easy to make using your beloved air fryer.
We have tried and loved the quick air fryer egg on toast with bacon hack, and now this idea is equally delish. I opted for an everything bagel and highly recommend that flavor for the extra seasoning, but you can use your favorite savory bagel.
It all starts with a layer of basil pesto, your bagel of choice, the egg, and then feta cheese. After about 7 minutes in the air fryer, the result is a perfectly toasted bagel with a cheesy egg on top.
This egg in a bagel recipe is honestly super easy to make and so darn GOOD. I love the idea of using the pesto. It adds great flavor and pairs so great with the feta cheese. My pesto egg bagel is inspired by this Instagram video and I think this concept rocks!

A bagel with egg inside toasted with pesto and feta cheese.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons pesto
- 1 bagel, sliced in half
- 2 eggs

Line the air fryer with parchment paper. Make two circles of pesto on the paper. Place the bagels with the inside facing down on top of the pesto.
2
Add the egg to the middle of the bagel. Sprinkle the top with feta cheese.

Cook at 365 degrees in the air fryer for about 7 minutes until the egg is cooked to the desired doneness and the bagel is toasted. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for topping.
Extra tips for making this pesto egg in bagel recipe:
- This idea is so adaptable as you can use a different type of cheese like cheddar if desired. You could even skip the pesto and maybe use butter or a little olive oil instead.
- 7 minutes was perfect for my bagel as the yoke was a little runny. Leave it cooking for 1-2 minutes longer for a fully cooked-through yoke if desired. This can be a slight trial and error until you find the perfect cooking times in your air fryer.
- I think you could also fry this on a frying pan on medium heat and cover it with a lid until cooked and toasted as desired.
- To make in the oven try baking at 375 degrees for 11 to 14 minutes with 11 minutes for a runnier yoke.
This egg in bagel recipe is worth trying!
If you’re like me and always looking for creative breakfast ideas, this is a winner. I love a good cheesy egg, and this version using a bagel is genius. I feel like you could add a slice of ham or bacon as well too. YUM!
