Zesty Italian dry seasoning packets are super versatile. In addition to using them to create homemade salad dressing, these packets can be used to quickly season grilled meat, create marinades, and to add to roasted potatoes & veggies and slow cooker meals.

Yum,thank you so much! 😉
Thank you! Thank you! Those little packets are so expensive. I use them in my potato salad and marinades and it really adds up. Can’t wait to try this!
You are welcome! Hey potato salad is a great idea. I also use in Italian pasta salad to season pasta so you don’t have to use a ton of dressing. Yum
Pour this over raw potatoes cut up then bake till soft and carmelized, so delicious! Look homemade dressings! Thanks Lina!
How much seasoning do I mix into the oil/vinegar? All of it?
2 Tablespoons of seasoning. Sorry meant to say that and I added correction to post. Thanks so much!
Does this just make enough for 1 time making the dressing or multiple times and when making the dressing how much dry seasoning do I add to the oil, vinegar and water? Thank you!
I would say a couple times – use 2 tablespoons for salad dressing. Thanks!
made the italian bake for dinner, but used boneless pork loin — hubby devoured it!
Yes we have too! Love that 🙂 Thanks for coming back to tell us!
I’ve been making this dressing recipe for about 6 months now… I won’t use anything else. I eliminate the salt though, and use garlic powder instead of garlic salt. Much better for those with hbp. Still tastes great!
Great tip!
Hi Lina, if I don’t like zesty italian, but plain italian…which ingredient should I remove? Thanks for all your recipes!
How much for this mix would you use in place of an actual packet for yiyt Italian Chicken Bake Recipe? 2 Tablespoons?
I got a recipe off of Facebook that I love.
3 chicken breast boneless
2 cans of green beans drained
Cut up some red potatoes
1 stick of butter melted
1 zesty Italian packet
Put beans on one side, chicken in middle, and potatoes on the other side and pour butter over top and zesty packet cover and bake for 1 hour at 350° it’s so good.
Do you think it would taste okay without celery seed?
You can omit the celery seed if desired. I have people who don’t care for it and I just left it out. Still taste amazing.
Thank you so much for posting this recipe! I have always used the packets, but due to having to be on a gluten-free diet, I couldn’t use them anymore. I used this recipe for an Italian pasta dish I make a few times a year. It was fantastic! This recipe is way better than those packets. Thank you!!!!
I’m so glad! Yes I love it in pasta salad too- Yum!
Is the recipe equal to 1 pack that you buy from the store?
No – but using two tablespoons of it would be. Hope that helps!
Thank you I had that question, too.
When I realized that I didn’t have any bottles of Italian dressing I picked out your recipe off of Pinterest. I made it and used it for a cold spaghetti salad for dinner. It is delicious, much better flavor then what I could buy at the store. Now I don’t have to buy store bought salad dressing. Thank you
That sounds like a delicious recipe idea! Thanks for coming back to let us know Laurene 🙂
Love having this recipe. I use it all the time in my pasta salad and my family devours it. Never use bottled dressing anymore. I also use it to marinate chicken, beef, or fish before I cook it. It gives everything a wonderful flavor and makes the meat so juicy and tender. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for coming back to say that!
How many packets is this equivalent to?
I would estimate about 3 packets
Are the Celery Seeds just added whole? No crushing or other preparation? Saving money is very important when feeding a family!!
Is this ground thyme?
I always use thyme leaves, Susan!
Thank you for responding.
I love this dressing mix! I keep a large batch of it in a mason jar. Thanks! I can’t figure out why the water though…
OH MY GOSH! This seasoning is SO YUMMY! I made it with 1/4 cup white vinegar and 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar!! I most always make our salad dressing and this is such a nice addition to my basic go to. Thank you for sharing!
Oh hooray! Thanks Carol!
My roast calls for one packet. How much would I use if it calls for one packet of zesty Italian?
Try two tablespoons to replace a packet. Thanks!
Thank you for this lovely recipe. I use for our Italian Beef Sandwiches. SO GOOD.
Yum!! You’re so welcome!
This is perfect! The Zesty Italian packet from Good Seasons is my favorite to add to Italian Beef in the crock pot and to add to a plain block of cream cheese! I wanted a version with no sugar so your recipe was perfect- I just left out the sugar. It is delicious!! Thank you for sharing!!
So happy you posted this. I moved to Australia and really miss this flavour. I’m on it now!
Oh good! Enjoy!
This is a delicious dressing / marinade! I used garlic infused extra virgin olive oil as I’m following Fodmap and can’t have my FAVORITE – garlic. Quick question. Refrigerate or not to refrigerate?
I did some research online for ya and seems like you could leave it out for a while since these are dried herbs and no dairy or water is added. I typically keep it in the fridge and let it set out a bit before serving. Hope that helps!
