These Asian-inspired party meatballs are perfect to serve over rice as a quick dinner idea.

In a dinner rut and need something low effort the kids will go crazy for?!

Consider making these teriyaki bbq glazed meatballs served over rice for a flavorful quick affordable meal. The other day the only thing I had on hand was a $5 frozen bag of party meatballs from Trader Joe’s and easily managed to use them as a basis for a unique-tasting skillet meal.

I threw in bell peppers and made a fast BBQ glaze sauce using fridge condiments!

Isn’t it the best when meals created on the fly work out and the whole family is impressed? I added some of my favorite orange ginger seasoning blend for some bright flavor, too.

The best part is you can eyeball the amounts to taste and even create your own similar sweet and savory sauce. I know BBQ sauce and grape jelly is a popular combo to use with frozen meatballs, as well as chili sauce and cranberry jelly.

The result is a sweet and savory meatball dish that is easy to serve over white rice. I used my handy rice maker to make jasmine rice while I prepared the frozen meatballs on the stove so all in all this is truly a meal that can be done in under 30 minutes.

Tips for making Sweet BBQ Frozen Party Meatballs:

  • I used a 20 oz. bag of Trader Joe’s mini meatballs that are a beef and pork blend. We are fans of these and buy them often. If you’d like to use another brand or homemade meatballs, this idea will work with either.
  • If you have a favorite prepared teriyaki BBQ sauce that you already love, then that could be a shortcut to use for a sauce! I just created my own on the fly using honey BBQ, sweet soy sauce, and teriyaki sauce.

Sweet BBQ meatballs for the mom win!

These meatballs happen to also be great in an easy spaghetti meal with marinara sauce. I have also paired them with a couple of frozen bags of Trader Joe’s delicious penne arrabbiata, which is also a family favorite. The possibilities are endless!

I buy a bag of Great Value frozen meatball nearly every week. It’s $5.86 here for 32 oz. That’s cheaper than buying the meat alone. They have regular or Italian style.
