1. My son uses this Wildkin lunch box every day and it still looks brand new a year and a half later.
Wildkin Lunch Box – $24.99 (watch for a price drop under $10!)
Losing a personal item at school is basically inevitable for every kiddo. Unfortunately for my wallet, it’s happened quite a few times during my kiddo’s grade school years 🤣, so when my son lost his lunch box for the 3rd time (yes, the third lol), I was looking for something incredibly cheap to get us through the school year!
While this lunch box isn’t necessarily super cheap right now, I looked at my old order invoice and originally only paid $8.29!!! 😱
Turns out this little lunch box is not just cheap, but incredibly good quality too! Almost two years later, it still looks brand new, the zipper is of great quality, it wipes clean easily, and it holds all the food my son needs for the day. Perfect!
2. My daughter loves using Bentgo bento-style lunch boxes which are airtight and dishwasher safe.
Bentgo Prints Bento-Style Lunch Box – $29.99 (regularly $39.99)

Final cost just $24.99!
My daughter used this bento-style kid’s lunch box for the past FOUR years and it’s tough as nails – making it more than worth its value! She has toted it everywhere from the beach to preschool and kindergarten!
I’ve also noticed the unique, individual compartments encourage her to try multiple foods since she’s so insistent on filling each of them before we head out the door.
She loved it so much that I recently bought another Bentgo lunch box with an ice pack for this school year! 🧊
Bentgo Chill Bento-Style Lunch Box – $29.99 (regularly $39.99)
Since the compartments in our original Bentgo lunch box are ideal for a small snacker, I recently upgraded my daughter to one with just four compartments so we can fit larger quantities of food.
As a bonus, this one has a built-in ice pack so food effortlessly stays cold.
Best of all, both of them are completely air-tight so you can pack applesauce or yogurt without a worry in the world. They’re seriously the best lunch boxes for kids!
To wash, simply throw them in the dishwasher, and voila!

Bean makes so many fun prints and solid color options, perfect for any kiddo looking to express their unique style.

Here’s a week of easy sandwich-free lunch ideas kids will love!
I’m shocked pottery barn didn’t make the cut!
My vote goes to Pottery Barn. My kids have both had their retro lunch boxes all through elementary and middle school. I love their domed style, that fits a refillable bottle (nalgene) , the bottom fits a sandwich container (we used Tupperware), and there’s room for a small water bottle and snacks. Durable and spacious, always won for me!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Jenna! Good to know what has worked well for your kids!
I’ve never heard of Packit brand before, so I did some investing. They also make a snack bag. Our kiddos snack break isn’t until later in the afternoon, so it’s hard to send cold items. This will allow me to send cheese and such for afternoon snack. Thanks!
How neat! You’re most welcome!
My boys have used PackIt lunch bags for several years. The built in ice packs work really well and keep items cold for a long time. I think they are very durable also, they have held up well with no issues. Definitely worth investing in!
Hats off the mom who makes little fun shapes, etc. for the Bento! I’m not “that mom” for sure! Hahaha! Land’s end with the EZ wipe…we’ve had some of those for 3+ years…still going strong! Thanks for the post Hip2Save!
You’re so welcome! Thanks for sharing what has been working best for your family!
Any good ideas for those fussy kids who actually like their food warm and don’t have access to a microwave?
My best advice would be to get Thermos food containers or any other food container that is double insulated. Thermos Funtainers retain heat for 5 hours so if you send the food to school hot, it should stay hot until their lunchtime. Fun designs too: https://amzn.to/2VGrm4T
Hi Amanda,
I use Zojirushi Mr. Bento Stainless Lunch Jar, 41 Oz. It’s a bit big but it keeps my kids & husband’s food warm/hot. It stocks 4 containers together. The bottom 2 containers stay warm/hot and the top two I put fruits and other snacks. It’s a bit pricey but its so worth it. We been using ours almost everyday for 5+ yrs.
Has anyone used the FlatBox lunch boxes that can give an honest review?
With the Bentgo lunch boxes do you put them in a lunch bag? Just wondering if I also need to buy a bag that fits it.
You can put them in a lunch bag with an ice pack. Hope that is helpful! đź’ž
The bentgo boxes fit snugly in most lunch bags… doesn’t leave space for a water bottle.
Anyone have a recommendation for a lunch bag that fits a Bentgo style box AND regular size water bottle??
