Our Team’s Favorite Shapewear from Amazon (& One That Was a Bummer!)
Kim Kardashian ain’t got nothing on our team!
We tried some of the best-selling women’s shapewear on Amazon! Not only are all the pieces totally affordable, but we’re sharing if these tummy control, butt lifting, and shorts with an actual butt work… or if they fell flat.
1. Emily’s body shaping women’s shapewear shorts
If you’re looking to slim up in one of your favorite dresses, these shorts will be the perfect addition to enhance the curves you already have! These breathable shorts are not just comfortable to wear, but they slim your mid-thighs, tighten your butt, and reduce your waistline while sucking in your abdomen. What’s not to want?!
Emily already looked fabulous in her Amazon dress before she tried on her Amazon Nebility Waist Trainer & Body Shaper Shapewear Shorts, but you can really see how they gave her a little boost in her dress! She feels even more confident and ready to hit the town.
Here’s what Emily has to say about her shapewear:
“I used to wear a similar pair of Spanx (I wear shapewear anytime I’m going to an event), but I’m blown away by this slimming bodysuit from Amazon and have been using it for over a year now! It was a little intimidating at first with the boning, compressed fabric, and the butt sections in the back, 😂 but it WORKS amazing!
It might feel like it runs small, but it’s meant to be in order to really compress everything in so just trust me on that. The leg opening starts to feel snug, even when pulling up around the calves, but it stretches like crazy and is really comfortable once it’s in place. I’m very prone to bloating but even when I tried to push my stomach out to how it normally looks when I don’t focus on my posture, there was no movement at all—secure and tight!”

2. Jill’s tummy control women’s lace panties
These shapewear panties are a great way to still look sexy while giving you the boost you’re looking for. The lace detail around the legs is something you’d find at an expensive lingerie store, like Victoria’s Secret, but for half the price! Plus, they help control your tummy and lift your butt.
Jill is looking flawless, literally! I was loving her in this dress before, but you can really see the difference that these Amazon panties made in her abdomen and backside. These panties slimmed her up in all the areas she was hoping for and, best of all, you can’t even tell she is wearing them! Win, win!
Here’s what Jill has to say about her shapewear:
“This shapewear is so comfortable to wear, and I really love the added lace feature on the bottom of the panties. I like the boy shorts fit and felt so comfortable in my dress! These are so versatile, too, and would work even better under a pair of jeans or skirt. It totally flattened and smoothed all my lumps and bumps, which is exactly what I was hoping for. I’m already looking forward to wearing them out for our next date night, paired with my favorite dress!”
3. Erica’s mom’s corset body shapewear
This waist trainer does so much more than just suck in your stomach! It’s a great piece that provides excellent back support, helps with post-partum recovery, and even helps push up breasts for an improved hourglass shape.
This shapewear is an easy, concealed way to improve multiple areas of your body while doing nothing at all, so you can go about your errands or even wear it while working out since it’s moisture-wicking!
Erica actually gifted this waist trainer to her mom who has had twins and struggled to get her abdomen back to where she wanted it. You can see in her before and after that this Amazon corset vest totally improved her posture, slimmed her waist, and lifted her chest.
Here’s what Erica’s mom has to say about her shapewear:
“I was so excited to try this on! In my younger years, I was always thinner and bounced back to my normal shape with my first two babies. And then… I decided to have one more! However, this didn’t happen. I got pregnant, but I ended up pregnant with twin boys – two full-term over 7-pound babies at that! Boy, did they change my body! They stretched me out so far, my skin just stayed wrinkly after I lost the weight, and it has never gone away all these years. It’s just something I have had to deal with and accept.
With that being said, I was really excited to get this shapewear product in the mail. I am in LOVE! It fits nice and snug, but it’s comfortable and does the job. As you can see, it really pulls me together and gives me that hourglass shape! Wow! What a difference this thing makes! And, it fits nicely under shirts, dresses, etc!“
4. Sara’s butt enhancer shapewear shorts
- Amazon Seamless Butt Lifter Panty Enhancer Underwear | $13.99-$14.99
Whether you have some improvement to do on your bum (or you’re like me and have no bum), these shorts are NOT what you need in your life! 😬 That’s right, sorry friends, but I’m not a fan of these and would rather embrace what I already have (or don’t have for that matter, lol!)
You don’t have to look too closely to see that this butt enhancer is extremely noticeable. HAHA! Sometimes you just need a good laugh, and this definitely gave me one. If you take a look at my right thigh you can even see how it’s squeezing my skin when I move.
I even tried it with my favorite white dress thinking maybe something lighter would help mask the lines, but it just doesn’t at all. My recommendation…if you’re still looking to buy a pair of these, only wear them with loose clothing…or just take my advice and don’t do it at all! 😂
I wonder if the corset vest will cause tension or headaches due to the pressure???
Good question!
silly but these give me heartburn and tummy problems if I try to eat a meal when in one.
Me too liz.
Thank you! This review is very helpful.
You’re so welcome, Rachel!
Is the link correct for the first shorts? TIA
Yes! That’s the correct link.
Thanks!
You’re welcome!
I’m sorry, I don’t want to be THAT person but why are any of these even a thing? Why can’t we just be happy with what we have? I know I’m going to get criticized for this but I seriously don’t understand it. So what if you have a tummy and your butt is not perfect? You are beautiful no matter what!!
Amen, sister! Don’t understand why everybody has to change everything about themselves. Love yourself the way you are. It’s just this site trying to get you to buy more things…
Thanks Mary! I agree, we’re all beautiful no matter what!
I have maidenform shaper boyshorts and while they don’t hold me in a lot they help my sciatica tremendously.
I agree, Mary! Our bodies are beautiful as they are. This post is damaging to our society.
I agree and have embraced my rather large sized booty but I also have been stretched out by my kiddos and enjoy having support in my stomach area. I like that it slims it up a little too! I think if it provides a little confidence boost then there’s nothing wrong with it.
There is nothing wrong with a confidence boost, Joni, but also there is nothing wrong with your body as is. All bodies are beautiful just the way they are.
If you’re healthy, but not caring is not beautiful. Now I’m gonna get criticized.
True to that! Different between accepting your body and not caring!
Yes we are all beautiful but there is nothing wrong with someone who isn’t feeling that great to want to feel a little confidence boost. To each there own🤷♀️
I think they are awesome on days you are bloated as well. A lot of times I want to stay in because my clothes are tight or don’t look good once a month. OR when I’ve gotten bloated from taking steroids for my asthma.
Overall, I agree with your sentiment, but I also feel like these are a necessary evil for special event clothing to fit correctly. Alterations can get very expensive depending on the style of the dress or there may not be time for something to be altered or maybe you don’t have access to a good tailor/seamstress. Example: I have a bridesmaid dress that I suspect will be slightly too small in the waist, but I know I won’t have time to have major alterations done on a larger size. So this is an easier/more convenient solution.
Haha I don’t want to be THAT person, but all of you who “love yourselves” still found yourselves on an article that reviews shapewear, to the point where you got all the way to the bottom to leave a comment. We are our own harshest critic. It’s not a sin to be insecure. Those who choose to wear these products shouldn’t be demonised as less womanly because they can’t accent their flaws.
I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and gym skin elasticity is very bad. I use shape wear to kind of pull myself together because I have 30lbs of excess skin hanging off of me and it hangs in ways that gives me uneven weight distribution. Messes up my degrading joints as much as it does my confidence. Shapewear doesn’t just improve my silhouette, it improves my balance and takes pressure off my damaged knees, hips, and back. I think it’s important to look at this stuff like as seen on tv unitasker ads. Might seem silly to you, but there’s probably some one out there physically or mentally struggling with things you don’t know about or understand and that silly thing is a life saver for them. 🙂
What we see in the mirror is like how we look at a room we’ve decorated or our garden. If we can make it more appealing to look at, why settle? And for many people, their fading beauty can be restored. Confidence is energizing!
Thanks! This review is very helpful for those that are interested in this.
You’re very welcome!
Love these reviews !!!!!
So glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Am I the only one who thinks those butt lifters would be the perfect bike shorts! 😂 I was biking this weekend, wore 2 pairs of padded bike shorts, got a new more cushioned seat and still found myself out of the saddle most of my ride. Uggh, I love biking… butt….
Hahaha! I didn’t even think of that, but now that you mention it I would have to agree! 😂
Sara, your body is amazing, no need for any of these. What brand are those leggings? Also , always on the search for a short mini white dress, links please.
Aw, thank you so much! The leggings are Zella and they’re my favorite! They go on sale normally during the Nordstrom Anniversary. The dress, I bought at Zara a few years back so I doubt they have it. I honestly wouldn’t recommend it though, the quality wasn’t so great. 😕
Thanks for this post , how to find the right sizes for these? I usually wear a medium top/dress. Some of the reviews in amazon say the sizes are way off.
Which item are you referring to? I’d be happy to ask the team member for information on sizing. 🙂
Thank you , the first one
Omg my aunt had wore some for a wedding and seating was limited so she shared a seat with her sister so she was leaning to one side. When “her jam” came on she went to shake her booty with her sister and the side she was leaning on had gone flat!! She was dancing with half of her booty deflated!! 😂🤣😂
Thank you for sharing that story, Emaisee. Lol! Hopefully she still got her dance in and didn’t care what anyone thought! Haha
I have the first one and love it! I wear dresses with more confidence! Highly recommend because the boning really pulls you in versus regular spanx that I find cause a muffin appearance where
How did you order for sizing? I never where an XL but that’s what the chart is telling me?!
Which item are you referring to, Kristy? I’d be happy to ask the team member who tried it for more sizing information.
Hi! The first tan one with the shorts.
Hi Kristy! I have these and I went with a M/L based on the size chart. Normally I would go for XS/S for other sizing but after following that chart, I’m definitely happy I went with that size because they still seem so small! 😆Thankfully there is a ton of stretch and the compression does its magic LOL!
Thank you!!
Those butt enhancers look ridiculous. You must be lucky if you have to enhance your buttocks!
Lol one of the things I picked up genetically is affectionately called ” The [Maiden Name] Frog Butt.” Almost everyone in our family doesn’t have a bum; our backsides just kinda… taper off.
Like a frog.
I might be the only one who thinks the posture with the corset looks worse. I’m glad she feels better and more confident, but it looks like she’s going to tip and fall forward.
Everyone can always say accept your body the way it is..but I’m in my 30’s and I’m 5’4 and weigh 127 pounds and I’m not happy with my body after having two babies 18 months apart. When all you see on websites and tv is perfect women with perfect bodies I’m honestly thinking to get breast implants and a Brazilian butt lift. I’m not overweight at all but I don’t look how I want to look. I’m gonna try a shaper first and hopefully that with working out will help me shape my body.
