What is “Clear the List”? It’s a nationwide movement to support teachers by purchasing items for their school supply lists.

School will be back in session soon (some districts start in just a couple of weeks!) and teachers are already working hard to prepare their classrooms for the new 2024-2025 school year. This includes stocking up on school supplies for their students!

Did you know that many teachers pay for a majority of classroom supplies out of their own pockets? Yes, it’s true! Classroom supplies are not cheap and many school districts and families are struggling. This leaves many teachers to pay for school supplies themselves.

Teachers always go the extra mile for their students, so let’s show them how much we appreciate them by giving back and helping to fulfill their supply lists!

You can help by donating items from teachers’ Amazon shopping lists!

Teachers and educational professionals can head over to Amazon, create a classroom wish list, and then share their lists publicly. Anyone can ‘donate’ items that are on the list, and after donating, donors can even leave a note or message letting the teacher know how much they are appreciated. So awesome!

Even better, if you post your list on social media and tag Amazon with #clearthelist, you may find that your list is cleared BY Amazon! So cool!

Teachers, follow these steps to make your classroom wish list on Amazon:

  • Head over to Amazon and hover over Account & List at the top. Select ‘Create a List’ from the drop-down menu and name your list.
  • Hover over the three dots More menu on the right, and click Manage List to update your shipping address (this is important!) and other preferences like whether you want the list to be private or public. You can also designate whether your list is for an organization and if so, you’ll have the option to provide the website address of the organization.
  • Click ‘Save’ and then you can start adding items to your list!
  • To add items to your wish list, simply browse for products on Amazon and then click ‘Add to List’ under the Buy box on the right-hand side of any item’s product detail page.
  • Only list owners can make changes through Manage List. Both list owners and collaborators will be able to add and remove items.

If you’re a teacher, be sure to share your teacher list in the comments below so that readers can help clear the list! 🙌

This year we were told that we can’t put books for our classroom libraries on our Amazon wishlists to avoid issues with parents challenging books with the district. I’m a second year teacher in a Title 1 school, and the kids will no longer have library as a weekly special, so not being allowed to put books on my Amazon list is rough. I want to make sure that my kids still have access to a range of books within the classroom. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Hi everyone! After teaching 3rd grade for 2 years, I’m moving into school counseling! I will be at a new school in a new area and I am so excited to make this year a great one for all 540 of my students. Thank you for your consideration and support! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/cQTX6x0?ref_=wl_share

This will be my 8th year teaching special education, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, as a behavior support teacher. I teach social/emotional skills and teach positive behavior habits. In addition, when needed, I teach the core 4 subjects, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies, to those students having a rough time within a classroom. My room is mainly in need of new posters, sensory items for my 2 calm down areas, and incentives like snacks and tangible items. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3VAOY7XL7DAQS?ref_=wl_share

My wish list items aim to enrich the classroom environment for my kindergarten students where students feel invited to learn in a safe & functional space that keep the child as the central focus. After 17 years of working in independent schools I am thrilled to be moving into the public school district as an EC resource teacher. I will be working with Prek students with disabilities, neurodivergency, and learning differences. All materials will help enhance their learning experience! Thank you!

Thank you so much for considering my list! I am an art teacher at a private high school. We buy most art materials using a small school budget but specific items are not covered. This year I really want to make a huge display for the Day of the Dead! This list will help my students to honor those who have passed away over the years. I also teach SEL in my classroom so I added some materials for that as well. Thank you again for helping teachers in need!

Thank you for considering to clear my list. I am a kindergarten teacher who is trying to make a difference in young learners. Kindergarten is their first step into school and I want them to have the best positive experience. With helping clearing my list – you are helping me provide for these kids! Thanks

I’m going into my 13th year of teaching (spoooooky) and into a new position at my school. My co-teacher and I are building a new FULL DAY blended pre-k at our school which means for the first time students with special needs will have access to full day pre-k where formally they only had access to half day. It’s all very new and very exciting!
