Have Bored Kids? This Reader Made a DIY Ping Pong Game Using Items From the Recycling Bin!
Trying to keep the kids entertained?
“Mom, I’m bored!”…sound familiar? During times like these, we’re all trying to figure out how to entertain our kids while staying at home. Hip2Save reader, Melinda, created a DIY Ping Pong game using items from the recycling bin and things she already had on hand – and the kids loved it. What a fun idea for the whole family!
As a mother of three school-aged children, I’ve been looking for fun, frugal ways to keep them entertained during this “Stay at Home” order due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
This morning it took me about ten minutes to assemble this ping pong game similar to the “Car Pong” game on “Let’s Make a Deal.” The supplies I used include a large cardboard box, a cardboard piece for a backboard, a small cardboard box to raise the large box, yogurt cups, glue, tape, and ping pong balls.
I included small prizes to peak their interest. I offered coins and candy I purchased at 70% off after Valentine’s Day at Target (thanks to Hip2Save for alerting me to this deal!).
The object of the game is to bounce the ping pong ball once on the table and then get it in a cup. I placed coins in the cups and empty cups resulted in a candy prize of their choice. To assemble, simply glue the yogurt cups down, tape the cardboard backboard to the box, and you’re set to play!
The kids had lots of fun earning prizes and trying to increase their skill.
This is such a fun idea for kids and adults alike! 😊
So if you’re looking for something fun to do at home this weekend, consider making your own Ping Pong game and have the entire family join in! Thank you, Melinda, for this awesome idea!
