More Happy Friday

play space designed just for children

This has to be the most fun kids’ play area we’ve ever seen.

Hip2Save reader, Kay, has a baby boy on the way (congrats!) with two daughters at home. To avoid the risk of the girls feeling neglected as their family adds in their newest member, she created the ultimate play area to show them how much they are loved and to provide endless entertainment, especially during the moments she’s tied up with her newborn.

I have two daughters: a 7-year-old and a 3-year-old girl… and we are expecting a baby boy in February!

With our excitement, I have a slight concern about my younger daughter’s attachment to me, so I wanted to create a space that will keep her happy, creative, distracted, and busy while I tend to the baby.

Using what I already have at home on a very small budget and limited time (and the help from some of my best friends at church), I was able to bring to life this vision I have had for years.

I call it The Rainbow Room. This adorable space features stations for all of my daughters’ favorite things: dress up, arts & crafts, television, imaginative play (with dolls and playsets), grocery store/kitchen/dining areas, a reading nook, and train table (not pictured).

Most of the furniture and big items were purchased on Facebook Marketplace, at yard sales, or in retail stores at very discounted prices. Some items were hand-me-downs, donations, gifts, or repurposed pieces.

While I love how the room looks now, I know it will most likely evolve and adapt as my children grow, including the addition of a baby boy. I am so excited and relieved to have completed this master nesting project on time and within budget!

This is truly the ultimate play space!

There was clearly a lot of time, effort, and love put into creating this room… with a huge payoff as it turned out amazing!

Thank you, Kay, for sharing your Rainbow Room with us!

So very cute! What lucky little girls! Plenty of room for baby brother, when he is bigger.

That looks cute and all, but it is dangerous. Imagine those girls climbing the wall shelves to get things up top. VERY DANGEROUS! I wouldn’t let them play unsupervised in there.

I am having anxiety about someone falling and breaking something or impaling themselves on that fence. Seriously. I am really scared. It is too spikey and belongs outside, not in a playroom. Not to diminish your hard work, but safety is more important than cuteness with kiddos.

Awesome job! I would play in these rooms!
