This Reader Found a Creative Way to Deliver Cheer to Hospitalized Children
While the COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on everyone, it has been particularly difficult for anyone requiring a hospital stay – especially kids. Being admitted to the hospital is never fun, but restrictive visitation policies in many areas of the country are now making it harder for hospitalized children to receive visits from their loved ones.
Hip2Save reader Chriselda has been working with a charitable organization to spread a little hope, joy, and love to these kids when they need it the most, and you can too! ❤️
“My office had requested all of us to do any volunteering – in person or virtual. They sent the hours and suggested activities. While our kids feel so out of place in this COVID year, I wonder how it would be for hospitalized kids.”
“I wanted to make it fun (that’s what Hipsters love, don’t we)! It had to bring a cheer to the hospitalized kids and I had to do it virtually to protect them. Shown above are the cards I made for the hospitalized kids which will be sent to them.”
Cards for Hospitalized Kids is an internationally recognized charitable organization that works to deliver handmade cards to hospitalized children and Ronald McDonald houses in all 50 states.
Any individual or group can get involved with CFHK. If you’d like to donate your time and creativity to make handmade cards like Chriselda did, here’s how to get involved. If you know of a hospitalized child who would enjoy receiving a handmade card, you can also submit a request here!
Thank you, Chriselda, for sharing this idea with us! This is a wonderful, pandemic-proof way to uplift kids when they need it the most, and we are seriously impressed with your artistic abilities! At a time of year when we’re counting our blessings and looking for ways to give back, we also love that this is a fun, frugal, and family-friendly act of kindness that kids could help with too.

Wow ❤️ what a fabulous idea 💓love this ❤️
Adorable cards! What a sweet gesture.
This is a great idea to share and something that is greatly appreciated! My son was at Nationwide Children’s hospital in Columbus a couple years ago around the holidays and he received a handmade card that was signed by a class of children from a different state. It was a surprise and it put a smile on his face. This idea is very thoughtful and something that takes their mind off whatever situation they might be in. Thank you for bringing a smile to someone who might need a little pick me up!
Thank you for the wonderful idea. My 6 year old wants to make cards when she is home all day long during Christmas break. Not only will this keep her entertained, it will help teach her about give back.
Jes- your daughter is surely talented to want to make cards at age 6 & you are an amazing parent to find this a way to teach your daughter to give back 🙂
