Heads up: They say you can cancel at any time but that’s not true. You can cancel your subscription but you have to satisfy the terms of that subscription. So if you sign up for a 12 month subscription in Jan. you can cancel it in February but you’re gonna receive boxes through December. I don’t like this policy at all and feel likes its purposively deceptive. I have a current subscription for $20 a month and my dog does like the treats and the customer service is good but I think everyone should know this policy BEFORE they sign up.

Just adopted a sweet, sweet Potcake mix from the Bahamas two months ago…always looking for ways to spoil my little dude. I have been considering signing up for a dog subscription service for the last few weeks and the free pup pie made me bite the bullet. Decided to go for six months. Definitely understand the previous commenter’s frustrations with “cancel at any time” except you’re technically committing to the length of time based on the price you sign up for at registration. Would probably prefer they were more upfront with this.
At the same time, they have to encourage people for sticking with them in the long haul, so it makes sense from both sides. Felt like a six month commitment was a happy medium, but from the reviews and recommendations of friends, I’m sure I’ll renew in half a year for a full year subscription. Our dogs give us so much love and joy…they deserve a little something extra if we can afford it. Plus, I probably pay about this much on treats and toys each month anyway, so it seems nice to have new products shipped to my home without having to do the research and shopping myself. Even though I don’t like their policy, I really like the boxes. They’re super cute. Each month is a different theme and the treats and toys are centered around that theme. My dog loves the treats (has never not liked any that they’ve sent) and the toys are super cute and unique. For $21 a month we get 2 bags of treats, a chew bone and 2 toys. I’ve spent half that much on a bag of treats before. So it really is a good value. At first I was upset when I realized that I had locked myself into 12 mos. of Bark Boxes but my dog totally loves it and it’s a good deal. I just wish they were more upfront with their policy during the sign-up process. It states, “Plans automatically renew. You may cancel your renewal at any time”. Key word is renewal. I probably won’t renew and take a break after 12 mos. and look at other options but then again I may be back!
I like Rescue box where for each box purchased /. 2 shelter dogs are vaccinated. & $5 in food is purchased. Does Bark so this?
Thank you for mentioning Rescue Box, I’ve never heard of them but will probably subscribe after reading up about them. The only negative is you can’t choose what shelter/organization you want to help but after reading their vetting process seems fair about who they do help.

We love barkbox! We have two labs (one yellow and one chocolate) and we purchase the 12 month subscription- only 1 box and share with both dogs. To make the toys last longer we only give them 1 of the toys when we receive the box (middle of the month) and then at the beginning of the next month give them the other toy. That way every 2-ish weeks they get a new toy! their customer service is amazing- when our box was accidentally delivered to the wrong address by USPS and those people opened and used the toys and treats, barkbox sent us a new box free of charge. You can also tell them what your dog does not like and they will not put items like that in the box. Our dogs know when it arrives and get very excited. Plus the themes every month are fun to look forward to, even for the humans!

Also, when it’s almost time to renew I cancel my subscription then start a new one. I usually can find a code online to get a free box or a discount. They have yet to have an issue with the way I have done that.
Wow, I wonder if the people that opened your mail know that is against the law? You cannot just open it and use it, seriously? (a box like that you’ll know you didn’t order it)
On a side note, when I come home from costco and I tell my dog I got him something he runs up to the back of my car, tail wagging and very excited, they know when they get something. lol
Right?! We were very upset and wish we could have gotten the address to talk to the people. Definitely can’t play the “We didn’t know what it was” when it says BARKBOX all over it with cute doggie drawings. At least BarkBox handled it well.
