This beloved children’s brand is planning a comeback! 🎉

The Children’s Place, Inc. has announced that the Gymboree brand will relaunch in the spring of 2020 with an enhanced website and more than 200 shop-in-shop locations at select The Children’s Place stores in the U.S. and Canada.

As a reminder, The Children’s Place purchased Gymboree earlier this year after the company filed bankruptcy.

Jane Elfers, President and Chief Executive Officer announced,

“We have embarked upon an exciting journey to bring this iconic brand back to the loyal Gymboree customers, who continue to voice an unrivaled passion and affinity for it. We are thrilled to be able to revitalize bow-to-toe collections that create magical childhood moments.”

The new and improved website at Gymboree.com will offer a more personalized and enhanced online shopping experience and the site will be upgraded to include:

  • Access to all Gymboree collections in sizes 12M – 8T
  • The ability to shop by collection
  • A shared online basket to streamline the checkout and shipping processes
  • A “Free Shipping, Free Returns, Everyday” policy for all purchases – NO minimum purchase required (love this!)
  • A new loyalty program that will reward customers for every purchase, give members special offers on their children’s birthdays, provide exclusive access to bonus events, and allow opportunities to earn extra points

Leading up to the relaunch, the company is giving fans of Gymboree the opportunity to help shape the rebirth of the brand and its future collections via FacebookTwitter, Instagram, and Gymboree.com.

Starting in late October and running through mid-January, Gymboree will be hosting a Superfan Sweepstakes, inviting fans to share why they love the brand. An undisclosed number of lucky winners will then be chosen to win an entire collection from its Spring 2020 line. The brand will also be giving away $2,500 in Gymboree gift cards per week.

The number one thing that we have loved about gymboree over the last 22 years is its quality. I really hope they dont downgrade on quality (which is what I fear) just to give these other perks! No perk can replace quality. Their clothes used to be top of the line years ago.

My guess is this is something they will consider over time. The cuts make complete sense from a business and loyalty stand point. If you can’t have it all, take what works The Best, and start over.

I agree! We loved Gymboree, but I do feel like the quality and styles went downhill in the last few years as they tried competing with lower end stores. They also tried releasing too many lines. I think 2002-2003 may be my favorite Gymbo time period, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they bring back. I understand limiting their sizes, but wish they went up to a size 8/9 or even 10.

wow, that’s great news! hopefully, they will have beautiful nice quality clothes. We like Children’s Place as well for the affordability and style. I wonder if they’ll honor gymboree giftcards. I found one I did not realize I had in a drawer a few months back…

Yes!!!! My 10 year old just said last night how he hated that they closed because they have the best jammies! I am so happy!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Awwww! That’s really cool! I’m so glad he loves their jammies!

Are they really only going to carry size12 Months up to size 8 ?? That’s a shame if they are. My older kids (and I ) loved Gymboree for their bigger sizes too. Especially for coordinating outfits with the younger kids . They used to go up to size 14.
And what about the little infant sizes ?? Their baby stuff was so cute. I truly hope they rethink this as time goes on.

    • snezhinka

A lot of stores carry matching outfits now, even mother-daughter ones like Old Navy.

    • Rae

I hope they at least carry 10-12. I mean 9 and 10 year olds still dress like 8 and 9 year olds. And I find in certain outfits I need to size up. My 8 year old is in a 7-8 in some things and can fit into a 10 in some things without it looking big.

      • Amy

My very tall almost 6 year old is on the upper side of size 8 clothing, so I definitely appreciate younger kid styles in larger sizes. I’m fully expecting her to fit size 10 this winter, but I guess it wont be gymboree brand stuff.

      • PB

My 8 year old is 5′ tall and wears a 14/16, they needed more sizes. not less!

    • Becks

Yuck! I see that! Bummer. They have the best jammies, jackets & other big kid items.

I miss Gymboree! I loved the styles, especially girl’s dresses.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

They had super cute dresses! You are right, Michele B.!

  6. JC

That’s a very good news! I love their clothes because of their style and quality!

  7. Es

I am super excited as their clothes is so great quality that has passed two of my kids with new wear and tear to hand to another family in good condition. I’ve tried to shop different brands and my FAV has been Gymboree!! Can’t wait and plus they have cute styles can’t go wrong! 🙂

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Yea! I hope that the high-quality stays and you can pick up your faves again!

  8. Jer

I still have $100 gift card to them I wonder if I still will be able to use it

    • JenniferS

Keep it don’t loose track of that gift card! Good chance you’ll still be able to use.

  9. Cherry Blossom

    So excited about this!

  10. Meggo

Yes!!! I literally just said yesterday – as I was struggling to find cute long sleeve shirts for my daughter, without ridiculous sayings all over the front of them – I wish Gymboree was still around! It does make me a little nervous that the quality won’t be there. The children’s place quality is really non existent. Their stuff looks so dingy after 2 washes! Excited to see what they have come up with for Spring!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I am excited to see what Spring brings, too!

  11. Sarah

Idk if any of you have checked it out but Abercrombie kids has some great clothes that last forever! My son likes pretty plain tshirts without a lot of graphics on them and they have them for like $6 in clearance all the time. Free pickup in the store makes it more affordable for sure.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for letting us know, Sarah! We are going to check this out!

    • Tracy

      Love AF kids!

  12. Christine

Thank goodness! I really miss Gymboree. I’m having such a hard time trying to find clothes for 6 year old boy that don’t have camo or skulls on them (yuk) or are not crazy expensive. Great news!

  13. samfs2016

Thankfully I love the Quality of dresses. They were too good kids wearing them from last 3 years washed several times still v good.

  14. shop4mybabies

Gymboree couldn’t sustain because their quality went downhill the last 6 years they were open…or as my daughters day because I quit spending money there. I have pieces of Gymboree that are 22 years old, went through 3-5 kids and look brand new…the stuff they put out the last 6 years of operation was walmart quality. I hope Childrens will revamp and revive in a positive way

  15. Nicci

What are the chances they will honor my outstanding Gymboree gift card??? I totally missed it last summer when they said you had a couple weeks to use your gift cards and then they would be worthless. I was so bummed. Any idea???

  16. Karen

Loved, loved the very soft thick stretchy baby blankets, always with an adorable motif. There’s nothing like them out there now, I don’t believe. Also, totally agree with Christine, I don’t want little children’s clothes with skulls or other creepy things. I like children’s clothing that looks like innocent children’s clothing. I hope they’ll carry baby and older kids’ clothes, as well. And agree that nothing can beat good quality.
