When Is Black Friday 2024 and What Will it Look Like This Year?
Will 2024 bring us Black Friday doorbusters, curb busters, or both? Either way, it’s time to start planning!
Wondering when Black Friday 2024 is happening? This year, the big shopping event is on Friday, November 29th.
There will be plenty of deals to be had this year! The day after Thanksgiving has been dedicated to waking up early and braving the crowds for as long as we can remember. We look forward to this event all year long here at Hip2Save!
However, last year most of the best Black Friday deals were offered online and the number of in-store deals was greatly reduced to cut down on crowds.
Will Black Friday 2024 bring us doorbusters, curb busters, or both?
The short answer? It’s still too early to tell. However, we do expect to see the majority of Black Friday sales online since it’s been such a hit with holiday shoppers. In fact, we heard from so many of YOU last year that being able to get your shopping done at home without the crowds was kind of awesome. 👏
That said, it may very well depend on where you’re shopping this year but we do still anticipate in-store deals and doorbusters. All in all, there are definitely some silver linings to shopping from the comfort of home.
We also know that many consumers really liked having more time to shop the extended version of this hyped-up sales event. We’re thinking the sales will start happening much earlier this year too, so get that holiday fund ready! 💸
With that in mind, it’s time to start prepping for Black Friday 2024 now! Sure, November 29th may seem like quite a long time away, but we all know how quickly the year goes. Before you know it, the seasonal shopping frenzy will be in full swing!

How to start preparing for Black Friday now.
1. Make note of store hours.
We anticipate retailers to have traditional in-store Black Friday deals even though we expect lots of online deals as well. Many stores will announce special shopping hours as the big day approaches, so pay close attention to these changes and plan accordingly!
Last year, many major retail stores including Walmart and Target closed for Thanksgiving Day. Best Buy, Kohl’s, Costco, and Sam’s Club are just a handful of other major retailers that also remained closed.
Here is the complete list of retailers that were closed in 2023. This will give you an idea of what to expect this year. Hint, hint…most of them have been following the same pattern for the past couple of years.
2. Follow our best practices for the optimal shopping experience.
It’s best to know all of the do’s and don’ts if you’re heading out this year, from knowing where all the best deals are to mastering basic Black Friday etiquette. Make the most of your shopping time and learn how to avoid the most common Black Friday pitfalls!
3. Be aware of the things NOT to buy during Black Friday.
You read that right. Certain purchases are best saved for alternative shopping cycles throughout the year rather than going all out on Black Friday. Here are 10 items we don’t think you should buy during Black Friday. However, certain categories like appliances and gaming consoles are consistently hot buys!
4. Keep an eye out for your favorite store’s ad scan.
It’s likely that the store ads for Black Friday will be released around the same time they came out last year or possibly even sooner. This means we may see some ad scans leaked as soon as October! 😱 Check out last year’s ad scan release predictions and bookmark this page to see the all hottest deals as they’re released!

There’s a lot of shopping to be done until the holidays are here. You can build up your Black Friday budget before the deals begin. With the help of these clever tips to save and even some ways to make money, you’ll definitely be on the right track.

Totally no dig on you fabulous content creators at all, but isn’t it crazy that we even have to ask ourselves when black Friday is? It seems like the line has completely blurred over the years and the fun of what black Friday shopping used to be. (i.e. waking up early, running out to stores etc) has disappeared. It’s so easy and convenient to score deals online these days and the sales start even earlier now…like, late Summer it seems. Oftentimes I can grab better deals ahead of the holidays just by watching clearance, Amazon deals, etc. Anyway, this was just my two cents. Love all the hip2save team does for us and I have nothing but love and appreciation for you all! β€οΈ
