Is Dollar Tree Raising Prices… Again?
Are Dollar Tree prices going up?
If you’ve been relying on Dollar Tree for those $1.25 deals, brace yourself—prices may be going up again. Reliable social media sources are even saying the price change will hit stores as soon as July 4th, and we’re thinking this is the new normal. 🥴
Here are a few of the expected increases:
- Floral ↑ $1.75
- Cleaning supplies ↑ $1.50
- Glassware ↑ $1.50
- Ceramic cups, plates, etc. ↑ $1.50
- Plastic dinnerware → $1.25
- Kitchen/ bath textiles (oven mitts, dish cloths) ↑ $1.50
- Magic towels ↑ $2
- Food containers ↑ $1.50
- Calendars/ planners ↑ $2
- Pocket calendars → $1.25
We get it—prices are going up everywhere, and Dollar Tree is no exception. But when items keep creeping up to $1.50 or $1.75, it takes away some of the magic. Part of the charm was the simplicity: walk in with a few bucks, walk out with a bag full of stuff. As higher price tags become the norm, it feels like we’re losing what made Dollar Tree special.
What’s Next?
Dollar Tree hasn’t made any official announcements about a company-wide price hike, so for now, it’s a wait-and-see situation. Whether this is a small tweak or a sign of bigger changes, one thing’s for sure: the days of the “everything’s a dollar” store are long gone.
If you shop there regularly, keep an eye on price tags in your local store.
Have you seen any price increases at your local Dollar Tree Stores recently?

The two stores by my house already have signs up. It’s $1.75 for all $1.25 items starting April 15.
Thanks for letting us know what you have seen at your stores Lisa!
Thank you for sharing, Lisa. There have been differing opinions from content creators and viewers about price increases: when does it start, on which items, pricing levels, and the base price. They heard, they read, a store employee told them, a manager told them. You have given us something definite in writing, so to speak, and it’s appreciated.
If they do, I will be officially done with Dollar Tree. I have already seen them sneakily raising the prices on various things, such as multipack ramen. I used to go there about once a week before they raised prices, and now I may go once every two to three months and spend less than half of what I spent weekly. So many other retailers are offering the same or like items still for a dollar or less. Further, they claimed they were going to expand their merch and I have only seen the opposite. Their offerings have heavily shrunk. They lastly said they were going to lower prices on certain items such as some food products and they never did that. It is really sad they continue to raise prices on low income customers, yet will not even pay their skeleton crews a living wage or upkeep their stores. Their CEO is nothing short of greedy and I would not be surprised if this leads to them eventually going under. C’est la vie, I suppose.
Agree!
😣 everything is going up in price. 😣 I’m incredibly thankful for the Hip2save community for keeping us up to speed with these changes and DEALS!! ❤️
Aww, thank you so much! ❤️ That truly means a lot. We’re so thankful for you and love having such a kind and supportive community here at Hip2Save! Glad posts like these are helpful! 🤗💕
thanku –i’m the same. i had to let it go to the tune of every 3 months instead of every week. the employees are told to unbox the higher priced items and the rest sit in the isles. a huge store has only a couple of kids running it.i guess the new DT works cause their still open.;)
Agreed…think it will ultimately bring them down with the increases. With Amazon Haul and Temu there’s not a point in going in there when it’s cheaper online. I will say, I’m a fan of the traditional shopping experience and used to enjoy the Dollar Tree for it’s simplicity in pricing. I don’t want to figure out everything as I’m going along. It takes away the unique feature that WAS Dollar Tree.
Yes my store charged me $1.00 for a birthday card last week. I saw on Facebook that they may have some items for $7.00!
Thanks h2s for sharing. I rarely shop there, but when I do the normal items are cards, pretzels and posters. I liked their 50ct napkins (imo comparable to Vanity Fair), however, I haven’t seen them in 2-3 months.
Like Brittany stated I remember when they said some of the items would revert back to the $1. As far as I know, that never occurred.
We have to be observant and spend wisely.
When they raised their prices, I stopped shopping there. I didn’t buy a lot of items there anyway.
I am very disappointed on the news of raising more the prices they are lots of things there that they are only worth $1 and they are also lots of people that go there for years because they are poor and they can not afford more than $1 it used to be my favorite store for many years now not anymore for being so greedy you are losing lots of clients including me and at the end you are going to lose more and you were end up going on bankruptcy like many stores .
Why? If so change the name. Ridiculous
On several occasions, the Dollar Tree nearby, would open at 8:15 A.M. instead of 8:00 A.M. I would get there at 8:00 A.M. and would have to wait, so I stopped shopping there.
Same, only it was way more than 15 minutes, and I walked a mile there, so just had to wait. Finally went home out of frustration and rarely went back and only with my car. Same thing happened with Big Lots near me (which I also walked to!) before it finally went out of business.
Going from $1.25 to $1.75 is a large jump. I don’t shop there often, but always buy cards there. Probably will still buy those.
I even stopped buying cheap cards there. I bought them for years at Dollar Tree and was frustrated to see the same card choices, year after year, (as in little choice), so now I buy pop-up cards on sale that my elderly folks love (they will be 90 this year!) and I enjoy buying for them ’cause they’re worth it!
Yes it is unfortunate they are increasing their prices – but where are the bulk of their items from ? Out of the country correct ? The price increases are a result of the uncertainty of the up/down/back and forth tariffs from the current administration. No company big, small or medium can function or maintain a healthy financial forecast when they do not know 90 days or even 30 days what a tariff will be on the products they have ordered or what the tariff will be when the order arrives at port. It is maddening. Many small businesses have stated they will not last this year.
🙄Meh… tariffs or not DT was becoming more greedy and they need to fix their monetary fiasco of purchasing DG.
They purchased Family Dollar, not Dollar General.
I went to Dollar Tree today! I hadn’t been to Dollar tree in at least six months. They had some good items I picked up today. One item, I couldn’t believe was there was Pear’s soap, they also had Kristen Ess hair color and Colgate for sensitive teeth. Everything I bought was $1.25 with the exception of two items that were $.89 each. I bought a wide variety of items, including candy, Slim, Jim’s, a card, paper clips, Wite Out, stickers, and Pear’s soap. I saw a few items that were $1.75 and a few items on sale for less than $1.25, such as paper plates and napkins that were 2/$1. I can’t remember the item, but one item was $3.89, in a display, close to an end cap. I was very surprised to see an item for almost $4.00 at Dollar Tree! Now that I’ve seen your post, it makes sense. Thanks for posting!
You’re welcome, Teresa! Thanks for sharing about the items you snagged today! ❤️
If you spent $1 at Dtree in 2000, it’s the same as spending $1.89 in today’s money, adjusted for inflation. If I didn’t cry about it, then, I’m surely not going to cry about it, now, lol
The problem is that wages haven’t kept up with inflation, so customers have the right to cry about the changing prices! If Dollar Tree keeps raising prices, they’ll cry, too — because they’ll lose a lot of their customers.
I haven’t been to DT lately. Not too inspired these days. Plus the employees are always upset about what is happening behind the scenes, with management i suppose, conditions and pay. It’s weird being a customer and witnessing this as you’re shopping, fairly regularly. It must be pretty crummy for them.
The DT I shop at has the same problem…one “worker” is always standing behind the working cashier bad mouthing the manager, fellow workers, her delayed break… It’s so unprofessional and very awkward to listen to while being checked out! And now with higher prices I’m afraid my shopping days there are numbered:(
I have reduced my spending at Dollar Tree along since the 25 cents increase. Most of the time the shelves are empty and the so called viral products are not in the store. Dollar Tree is courting higher income customers, not poor people or average incomes. They don’t care and will keep raising their prices. They want to try and become a higher end store. Most of the products have reduced in size by half, when the first increase happened. Better off looking for sales than shopping at Dollar Tree. I will continue to shop less than I am now, only go around twice a month now and have been very selective on what I purchase.
Meant to “alot” not “along”
I rarely shop at dollar tree anymore mainly because our local store is so trashy. Everything is a mess, unorganized and boxes everywhere.
Prices already increased as indicated in the post. Floral magically increases to 1.75 not long after Joann closes? Interesting…and some things are still labeled at 1.25 but a sign in front has a higher price. Just awful.
Thanks for the heads up on what you’re already seeing at your location, Serena. I haven’t been in my store for a week or so but plan on heading in this weekend! 👀
In my small rural town Dollar Tree is the Only place to shop locally without a 30 mile round trip to Walmart. Pretty Sad! But yesterday I went in and was curious about all the red stickers on the items I was buying. Peeled them back to discover those stickers are covering the $1.25 price preprinted on all the labels. How lame is that!? I’m done shopping there! I’ll go without before I play that BS game. Most of my neighbors have the same feeling! Another one about to bite the dust
