Is the Dollar Tree price increase being… decreased? 💵

As inflation continues its relentless climb, we’ve reluctantly grown accustomed to the rising costs of everything, including Dollar Tree’s adjustment of their prices to a minimum of $1.25 per item in 2022.

However, last week, Dollar Tree’s CEO surprised us by announcing that a selection of items would be dropping back to $1 soon.

Obviously, it’s great news any time prices drop, but keep in mind this announcement only includes about 300 to 400 items out of Dollar Tree’s roughly 8,000 products. No specific information was provided about which items would see the rollback, but it sounds like the price reductions will apply to items that other stores already offer at the $1 price point per Dollar Tree CEO, Rick Dreiling.

“It’s pretty hard to have a banner like (Dollar Tree), and you have an item that everybody else has at $1, and you’re at a buck and a quarter” – CEO Rick Dreiling

Dollar Tree will be keeping the $1.25 price point on many items as well as continuing to offer things for $2, $3, and $5 to provide a wider selection of items for customers. These prices will be clearly labeled on shelves and packaging, making it easier for shoppers to know what they’re spending upfront.

While the exact timeline for these rollbacks remains uncertain, keep your eyes peeled for them to emerge in the coming weeks.

Have you noticed any items priced lower at other retailers? Are you among the lucky ones who have already witnessed these rollbacks firsthand? Share your experiences below!

Balloons went up to $1.50! Cards are still $1. or 2/$1. in NY and NJ.

Thanks for the heads up on the pricing you’re seeing at your store! Good to know. ❀️

Absolutely I have noticed things cheaper elsewhere. I have cut back my shopping at $1.25 tree since many items are more expensive there. You have to really watch.

    • LadyDay

      I did too.

SO true! Paying a little extra attention to pricing can snag you some savings for sure! Thanks for sharing! πŸ’–πŸ™Œ

I’m glad the cards are still.50 for the lower priced ones. I find them to be nice cards most of the time.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

YES! I like grabbing their cards too! SO much cheaper than other stores and usually super cute too! πŸ’–πŸ™Œ

Many of the same items are less than $1 at Walmart, so always compare.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Great idea to shop around, Marie! πŸ™Œ

I’ve for sure quit buying as much there. My local pharmacy and dollar general still have items for $1

Exactly! I don’t shop at DG much but did pick up some items there that I had normally purchased at DT. I love DT but also think there’s also a bit of greed going on especially when their profits have continued to climbed vs falling. Just saying that this is sadly happening with many companies.

Dollar General has some great $1 items!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for letting us know where you’re finding $1 items! I have started going into my Dollar General more recently and have been pleased with their $1 options too! πŸ’–πŸ™Œ

Also, the sizing of some of the products have become so tiny! Much better values elsewhere for many items.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re right, Pam. Best to pay attention to sizing to know for sure how great a deal you may or may not be grabbing. Thanks for commenting. πŸ€—β€οΈ
