Yes, there’s a nostalgia value, but the real delight is in the range of themes included in the set and the interpretations through simple bricks and simple building methods. There’s no compact building of plates or a confusing jumble of tightly-packed parts, it’s just bricks on bricks. It’s a delight to see these classic sets remembered in this way. The set comes packed with creative bricks beyond just those used for the models displayed, allowing you or your child to explore a whole range of designs. I really hope LEGO takes a note from this set and goes back to their roots to make simple sets from simple bricks with broader, more general themes. Pieces to note: there’s a curved 2×1 slope which I’ve never seen before, and the train wheels are really fun. Favorite models: The Fabuland elephant is packed with personality and feels like the ambassador of the set, and the spaceship is very swooshable.
