Ha! Just bought at Whole Foods on Sunday for $4.72! I didn’t notice any “gunk” coming out of my pores but I’ve only used once. My skin was super soft afterward, though.
So for those of you who use this, what’s the best, easiest method of disposal? The clay can clog drains, so I didn’t want to rinse it off. I picked the big dried clumps off and removed the remainder with a lot of cotton balls, which was kind of a pain.
I came on to say the same thing. Do not rinse this down the drain.
Does it clog?
I’ve used the clay off and on for years, I usually mix up what I need in a disposable cup with a plastic spoon and just toss the whole thing in the trash when I’m done
That’s what I did, too. How are you washing it off your face? My bathroom is upstairs and I can’t see sloshing a basin of muddy water through the house. 🤣
Yes, it will definitely clog drains!! How I take it off is by getting whatever big chunks off that I can over a small trash can (usually they kind of just fall off once dry) and then I gently rub whatever else I can off. Then I use a big bowl (such as one you would put a bag of popcorn in or something for size comparison) and I fill it partially with water and just rinse my face over the bowl of water until it’s gone and then I dump the bowl outside.
In the summer I’ve even just rinsed it off outside with the hose quick when I’m going out to water the plants anyway! Definitely the fastest and most convenient way, but that is a seasonal dependent option!!
Due to the hassle I haven’t been using it as much this winter, but this was a great reminder post that I should start using it regularly again!
I remove it by using a warm wet washcloth. And I toss the remainder of the mask itself into the trash, after scooping it out. Simple 🙂
I have heard great things about this mask. Got some at Marshals for about $5 the big ones are $9. A word of caution, I have contact dermatitis and I got the redness and hives from using it. Make sure to test a small area before applying to your whole face. My face was softer after the hives went away.

Even with the mask, you still look gorgeous Sara. I’ve had this recipe for over a year and it’s amazing.
Bentonite clay + apple cider vinegar makes my skin SUPER red. Scary red. Feverish red. But the redness and heat fades after an hour or two and my skin does seem to stay clear for longer than usual after I use it. Just have to do it before bed and NOT before going anywhere!

This hates my face. It made me break out soooo bad. And yes, I’m aware of purging. This was not it. I used it numerous times and it did nothing but make my face worse. Super bummed. But nothing helps me. I have thousands worth of skin care. I should’ve known this wasn’t going to do anything. 🤣

One of my FAVE products that works!!!! To take off the mask: I fill up a huge bowl with warm water and take off the mask by scooping water up from the bowl and splashing my face over and over, i also use a wash cloth dunked in the warm water to scrub it off. Then I throw the entire bowl of water outside in my yard. That stuff is terrible for pipes.

You should NOT mix this with vinegar only. Always dilute water and little vinegar +clay. My skin is not sensitive, and mixing this clay with apple cider vinegar only gave me a horrible burns on my face. Took a while till my skin completely healed. I still occasionally use this mask, but I mostly dilute it with water and only a bit of apple cider vinegar.
