By the way, Lina gives Swedish Dishcloths her seal of approval, too!

“I have been using my Swedish dishcloths for a few months now and love that they eliminate the need for paper towels when it comes to basic kitchen cleanups on a daily basis, and they don’t stink either! It’s like using a cloth and sponge combined, as they are incredibly sturdy and absorbent!

I use them to wash dishes and to keep my kitchen counters and appliances nice and clean. Being a food blogger, I am constantly cleaning up and these are such a handy tool to have!”

Here are all the reasons we love Swedish dishcloths –

Hands washing a Swedish Dishcloth over the kitchen sink

1. Swedish dishcloths are eco-friendly and replace paper towels.

Unlike paper towels and napkins that we throw away on a daily basis, Swedish dishcloths are eco-friendly. They can be washed and used hundreds of times. Can you imagine how much money they’ll save you on purchasing paper products?!

Speaking of saving money, be sure to read this post on 10 things to STOP buying now to save $35K over 10 years!

2. Because of their composition, Swedish dishcloths are biodegradable.

Since they’re made of cotton and cellulose, they can be composted once they’re past their lifespan. I don’t know about you, but I’m all for reducing paper waste wherever I can.  🙌

3. These thin, sponge-like sheets are hygienic and oh-so-easy to clean.

Swedish dishcloths are super easy to clean by hand, but you can also throw them in the washing machine or dishwasher. They dry lightning-fast and don’t get gross with bacteria buildup like a lot of sponges do over time.

“Wonderful. The best dishcloths I’ve ever had. They last forever, never have a bad odor, and are simple to clean.” -Amazon reviewer

4. These multitasking Swedish dishcloths can clean up practically anything.

Spilled milk, crumbs, pollen, sticky maple syrup… there’s not much that these magical towels can’t clean up. Do you know those paper towel commercials that promise maximum absorbency and end up disappointing? These things are heavy-duty and actually get the job done!

I will say that while I’m now using these towels instead of a sponge, I still use a scrub brush to handwash things like casserole dishes that require a bit of extra cleaning power.

“I love these Swedish cloths!! My daughter introduced me to them. They are awesome! They are so absorbent and dry fast. I may never use another dishcloth.” – Amazon reviewer

5. Swedish dishcloths are versatile and can be used on so many surfaces.

Messy bathroom? Dirty walls? Swedish dishcloths to the rescue! I keep a couple in my bathrooms because heaven knows, my kids will never stop making toothpaste messes on the counter.

Their material also makes them great for cleaning glass or stainless steel and leaving no streaks behind.

6. You can find these cleaning cloths in a medley of different colors!

If you care about the aesthetics of your cleaning products, you’ll be pleased to know that Swedish Dishcloths come in a variety of colors and designs.

I chose a multi-colored pack to add a vibrant pop to my kitchen and bathrooms, but check out some of these other color options!

“These cloths are so cool! They’re stiff when dry but then become totally pliable when wet making them act just like a paper towel, yet they’re reusable. They save so much in the long run on disposable paper towel costs, too.” – Emily at Hip2Save

7. Swedish dishcloths make great gifts.

In my younger years, things like clothing and beauty products were all I wanted to be gifted. Now, I want anything that simplifies my life and brings more order to my home.

I bet you a spilled cup of grape juice that your mom, neighbor, and friends will love the gift of spotless counters via the Swedish dishcloth. Use them as a stocking stuffer during the holidays, a housewarming gift, or add them to a gift basket for a present that keeps on giving. 🎁

I line dry mine with my other clothes. I love these. I always pick up a bunch when I go home to visit my mother in Germany. I grew up with these and they are awesome. Always have a packet around to give to new neighbors when they move in.

  2. Brenda

About how long do these dish cloths last? Thanks

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I think just depends on how much you use and how hard. I have some last last months with washing of course!

      • Brenda

        Thank you

  3. Janis

I love these little spongy cloths, and use them all the time. Each night when I start my dishwasher, I just add the dishcloth to the top rack, and it comes out smelling and looking clean as new!!

  4. Chris

I’ve been buying Swedish dishcloths @ Trader Joe’s for many years. They’re much more reasonably priced at TJs then from Amazon. I pay $3.99 for 2 pack & $9.99 for multi pack of 5 if I remember correctly. Amazon’s markup is always more no matter what I buy. I find many items at other stores always 30% less or more then Amazon sellers. I hope you’ll post this so your sidekicks will know there are better prices out there that’ll save them $$. The times we’re living in are difficult & costs seem to be going up every day. Thanks for trying to save us money!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for sharing that feedback, Chris! I’ll be sure to pass it along to the team. Personally, I don’t have a Trader Joe’s near me, so the Amazon option is helpful! So happy to hear that you’ve been able to score a deal on them there! πŸ’•

Mine wrinkle up and don’t lay flat when dry. Is that the norm?

    • Michele

I’ve used these for years, and they do dry wrinkly, although if you smooth them out with your hands and then air dry them they do pretty well. I had kept them in a drawer and found they tended to get caught on the top of the cabinet as I pulled the drawer out, which was annoying. I finally used command strips to attach a clear storage container (a few inches deep) to the inside of my sink cabinet door. They fit upright in it and it’s easy to remove one without disturbing the others.

Thanks for the helpful feedback, Michele!!πŸ’•πŸ’—

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes. It’s normally. I lay mine flat to dry and it helps. Putting something heavy on it helps too.

  6. Nancy Crabtree

I am not seeing the sale on any of them!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry for any confusion, Nancy! Amazon’s pricing can change quickly, and it seems that a few options are already up in price. When checking just now, the white 10-pack is still on sale with a lightning deal for $13.59 – if you’d like to check out that option. Hoping you’re able to snag a set! πŸ€žπŸ’“

  7. Maggie

If anyone would like a smaller pack to try them out, Amazon routinely has If You Care Sponge Cloths in a 5-pack for 5.99 — $1.20 per cloth. The normal price is actually cheaper than this lightening deal. Whole Foods sometimes has them too. They’re made in the same factory in Germany as the real Swedish Cloths (cellulose fiber): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0078DQXQC

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing this alternative, Maggie! πŸ’“

  8. Wendy2

Got mine, thank you for the sharing

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

      YAY! You’re welcome, Wendy2! πŸ’–

  9. Patti

All the white cloths are claimed, no longer available

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for the heads up, Patti! I’m seeing them available today – though the pricing has changed a bit, if you’d like to check back. Hoping you might be able to scoop up a set! πŸ’“

  10. Pat

Tempting, but since I don’t use or like sponges, not sure I would want these stiff cloths sitting around the sink. I use microfiber cloths that dry fast and don’t smell and easily hang over the dish rack.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Pat! Glad you have some cloths that work well for you! πŸ€—
