Did someone say freebies?!

From free alterations and coffee to free facials and makeup, you’re going to want to start taking advantage of these year-round freebies. There are tons of benefits your favorite stores offer that you probably don’t even realize, so we’re here to help highlight a few!

If you see we missed one, let us know so we can keep this list growing!

Here are 10 national chain store secret freebies:

1. Get free alterations and hemming from Nordstrom, Lands’ End, Lululemon, Athleta, & Buckle Jeans.

Join the Nordy Club, and clothing alterations are complimentary so long as you paid full price for the items. At Lands’ End, all alterations on pants and trousers are free of charge.

Lululemon offers complimentary hemming for any of its clothing products. Simply try on pants or tops and the clothing item will be pinned wherever you want your hem to be. A tailor will then hem it, and it’s usually available for pickup within three days at the store. Make sure your clothes are clean when you bring them in and don’t forget the receipt when you pick it up!

Athleta is another company that offers free hemming in every store for sizes ranging from XXS to 3XL. If you’re looking for jean alterations, Buckle Jeans offers complimentary hemming for any of their jeans purchased in person or online.

2. Grab a freebie mini facial at Aveda.

4. Take advantage of freebie online classes from Michaels and Lululemon.

Lululemon offers a variety of free online yoga classes that allow you to practice anywhere and anytime! Whether you’re trying to get into a positive mindset or looking for a youth yoga class, Lululemon has something everyone will love. They used to also do these classes in-person (check your store’s location to confirm), but these online classes are just as restorative, helpful, and free wellness resources that we’re loving.

Michaels offers various craft classes for free. Although they’re usually via Zoom, they will sometimes give out the kits and supplies you need for free in person for pick up! Keep an eye out on Michaels’ website to see which event is for you.

5. Sephora Beauty Insiders get freebie makeup samples (and sometimes even gifts).

As a VIB Rouge member of Sephora’s Beauty Insider program, I can confirm all the awesome freebies and perks you get that go beyond the typical free birthday gift! Although all three levels of the Beauty Insider program will give you free makeup samples, both VIBs and Rouge members occasionally receive exclusive free full-sized products from top, curated brands.

If you didn’t know, you could also exchange your points for sample products, and sometimes they’re not just makeup! Some currently include fuzzy socks, tote bags, and pedicure sets!

6. Apple offers complimentary Apple Care for the first year after your initial purchase.

Enjoy some peace of mind knowing Apple has your back with any new purchases! Apple offers one year of complimentary limited AppleCare when purchasing a new iPhone and one year of hardware recovery plus 90 days of AppleCare for Macs.

7. Score freebie eBooks from Amazon for your Kindle.

Whether or not you’re a fan of an eReader such as Kindle, you can’t deny how many free books come with it! Amazon has hundreds of free books that are just a click away from your access with your Kindle.

Even if you don’t have an actual Kindle, you can download the app and enjoy these instantly downloaded books on your computer, tablet, and/or smartphone.

8. Sip on freebie coffee refills when sitting in a Starbucks cafe.

Starbucks Cold Brew Coffee at Starbucks

Whether you’re working remotely at a Starbucks cafe or catching up with a friend over coffee, did you know Starbucks offers free refills of brewed coffee (hot, Iced Coffee, and Cold Brew) and tea (hot or iced, not lemonade)?! As long as you use a Starbucks card or the app to purchase, it’s true! If you don’t have an account, you’ll get it at a discounted price.

Regardless of the original drink ordered, this applies to the duration of your store visit. Make sure you ask first as this only applies to participating locations. Once you leave the store, the perk ends, and it doesn’t apply in the drive-thru.

9. Speaking of coffee, pay $8.99 and get unlimited coffee at Panera for a month.

Although it’s not entirely free (unless you read on for this piping hot deal), you can take advantage of unlimited Panera coffee for just $8.99 per month. But right now, you can get THREE months of the Panera Unlimited Sip Club FREE with their latest offer!

If you’re a person who is always on the go, join the Unlimited Sip Club to score your morning beverage at no extra cost. It includes hot and iced coffee plus hot tea.

Some quick math: Coffee is regularly $2.69 each, so if you were to get one each day of the month, you’d be saving over $70; that’s practically 27 free cups of coffee or tea!

My Starbucks charges $.60 for refills. I found out when our power was out for 3 days and I went to Starbucks to charge my phone.

    • Michelle W

I would dispute the charge. It is 55 cents plus tax before they scan your Starbucks Reward account that was used to purchase the original drink.

After it scans your account, it goes to zero. I get refills multiple times and have never been charged.

Buckle jeans also does free jeans hems and alterations! I’m super short and I only buy jeans from there and they do free alterations every time! They do a great job too.

  3. Krissy

Athleta offers free alterations as well!

“complementary” 1 yr applecare lol. Only Apple would get praise for graciously including a one year warranty with their product

  5. Teresa

I got a Starbucks refill today and paid 10 cents for the cup. The price showed 60 cents, they scanned the app and it went to 10 cents. A few days ago at a different Starbucks, my refill was totally free. NO refills at Target. Location, location, location.

    • Alli (Hip Sidekick)

Wow — what a sweet deal! Thanks for that tip, Teresa!
