Here’s How to Get a FREE or Cheap Turkey for Thanksgiving

And as a bonus, we’re sharing a list of stores that may be offering a cheap or even FREE Thanksgiving Turkey with a qualifying purchase!
Here’s a list of the stores that offered cheap or free turkeys in 2022…
Frozen turkeys were just 49¢ at Acme, or FREE with a $300 cumulative purchase in 2022.
Acme gave away free turkeys to Acme for U members in 2022. To redeem this offer, you could just clip the coupon in the Acme app. Then, you had until November 24 to activate the coupon by spending $300 or more at Acme.
Acme for U members could also save $1.80/lb. on turkeys with their club card, bringing the price of Frozen Grade A turkeys down to just 49¢/lb. (regularly $2.29/lb.)!
Turkeys were $1.07/lb. at ALDI.
In 2022, ALDI rewound the price of over 50 of its turkey day staples. Throughout the month of November, ALDI traveled back in time to match its 2019 pricing, which reduced the cost of its Thanksgiving essentials by up to 30%!
This means you could buy a whole, frozen Butterball turkey for just $1.07/lb. (regularly $1.59/lb.)! Note that there was a limit of two turkeys at this price.
BJ’s Wholesale Club members got a FREE turkey + a $10 reward with a $150 purchase.
BJ’s Wholesale Club offered a free Butterball Turkey (excluding organic turkeys) when you purchased qualifying items totaling $150 in one transaction between November 1st and November 10th, 2022.
New Butcher Box members got a FREE Turkey in their first box!
Butcher Box is a meat delivery subscription service that conveniently delivers high-quality organic meat and fish straight to your doorstep.
In November of 2022, new Butcher Box members received one humanely raised, free-range 10-14 lb. turkey for FREE in their first delivery!
Free turkey with a $50 purchase from Fareway Meat & Grocery
In 2022, you could score a free Fareway Broth-Basted Young Turkey (up to 14 lbs.) when you purchased $50 or more from Fareway’s Famous Fresh Meat Counter – limit one per order. This discount could also be applied toward the purchase of a larger turkey at the register.
Food Lion had turkeys for just 37¢/lb.
Through November 24, 2022, you could use your Food Lion MVP Card to save $1.92/lb. on Grade A frozen turkeys (10 lbs. and up). They’re regularly priced at $2.29/lb., so the final cost was just 37¢/lb. with your MVP Card! Note that this offer was only valid with a $35 minimum purchase.
Free turkey with a $400 cumulative spend at Foodtown
Foodtown rewarded customers with a free 10-20 pound turkey when they spent $400 with their Club Card in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving 2022.
Giant shoppers could redeem their points for a FREE turkey in 2022.
In 2022, Giant shoppers could redeem 400 Giant CHOICE Points for a free store brand Grade A Shady Brook Farms Frozen Turkey (up to 20 pounds). Shoppers also had three additional choices:
- Free Stouffer’s Party Size Lasagna
- Free Tofurkey Roast
- $1 off per pound on premium turkey, up to 20 lbs.
Premium Frozen Turkey for just 29¢/lb at Harris Teeter in 2022
At Harris Teeter, you could take home a 10 – 24 lb. frozen premium turkey for just 29¢/lb. with your purchase of $40 or more. That’s a savings of $1.70/lb.! This offer was valid with a VIC card and the $40 minimum spend did not include the price of the turkey.
H-E-B gave customers a FREE turkey with the purchase of select hams.
In 2022, you could get a free frozen RiverSide Grade A Turkey (up to 12 lbs.) with the purchase of a H-E-B Spiral Sliced Bone-In Half or Whole Ham or H-E-B Boneless Spiral Sliced Ham. This offer was valid with the in-store coupon found in the weekly ad (limit one per customer).
FREE turkey with the purchase of a Hormel Cure 81 ham from Hy-Vee
At Hy-Vee in 2022, you could get a free Honeysuckle White Frozen Turkey (10-14 lbs) with the purchase of a Hormel Cure 81 whole boneless ham. Just add this offer to your Hy-Vee account to claim your free turkey.
New Ibotta users could score a free turkey for Thanksgiving in 2022!

Jewel-Osco price matched its Jennie-O frozen turkeys.
Jewel-Osco had Frozen Jennie-O Broth Basted Whole Turkeys (10-26 lbs.) priced at 59¢/lb in 2022. Even better, they price-matched ANY competitor to their lowest advertised frozen turkey price!
Free turkey with a $100 purchase at Kroger
In 2022, Kroger shoppers could get a FREE frozen Grade A turkey with one single qualifying purchase of $100. Note that this offer did vary by location.
Kroger shoppers could also snag a frozen turkey for as low as 49¢/lb when they spent $25 in the same transaction with their store card. There was a limit of one turkey at this price.
Meijer customers could pay as low as 55¢ per pound on turkeys in 2022.
In 2022, Meijer sold Meijer Grade A frozen turkeys for just 55¢ per pound. There was a limit of two turkeys per customer at this price.
Publix had frozen turkeys for just 49¢/lb.
At Publix, shoppers could save up to $1.50/lb. on frozen USDA Grade A turkeys! Priced at just 49¢/lb. these broad-breasted young turkeys ranged from 10 to 24 pounds.
FREE turkey with a $150 purchase from Safeway
Safeway offered a FREE Honeysuckle Turkey of any size with a $150 purchase in 2022. To claim this offer, customers could simply load the Just for U Digital Coupon to their account in the mobile app and spend $150 in one transaction.
FREE turkey with a minimum purchase at ShopRite
ShopRite customers who earned a certain number of cumulative points between October 16 and November 24, 2022, could redeem them for a free Turkey, Ham, Turkey Breast, Kosher Chicken, Lasagna, or Tofurky (any size up to 21 lbs.). OR, you could get the equivalent savings per pound toward the purchase of any other whole turkey, turkey breast, or ham with your Price Plus Club card.
Frozen turkeys just 49¢/lb. at Stop & Shop
At Stop & Shop, you could get any size Shady Brook Farms Frozen Whole Turkey for just 49¢/lb in 2022. This offer was valid with a $25 purchase only, and there was a limit of two redemptions per customer.
Weis shoppers could redeem their Weis Rewards Points for a FREE turkey.
Weis Rewards members could score a free Weis Quality Frozen Turkey (up to 20 lbs.) when they earned 400 Weis Rewards Points between October 6 and Thanksgiving. If you weren’t able to earn 400 points, you could redeem 200 points and pay just 59¢/lb for your turkey!
Free turkey with a $125 purchase at Winco
In 2022, Winco shoppers could get a FREE frozen Jennie-O Grade A turkey with one single qualifying purchase of $125 (before the cost of the turkey). There was a limit of one offer per family while supplies last. This Facebook post had all the details!
Winn-Dixie had turkeys for 49¢ a pound.
In 2022, Winn-Dixie shoppers could get a Honeysuckle Grade A Frozen Turkey for just 49¢ per pound with their purchase of $30 or more. Butterball frozen turkeys were just 99¢ per pound!

The Louisiana-based supermarket chain Rouses has an offer for a free up to 16-lbs Butterball turkey (offer includes Honeysuckle or Best Choice Grade A, based on availability) with the purchase of Smithfield spiral ham, at $2.99/lb. Also, keep in mind that Winn-Dixie is advertising Smithfield spiral hams for $2.19/lb.
